We arrived in fort Simpson at the Nahanni traveller under relatively stressful and chaotic circumstances. Our planned accommodations had not worked out and we were essentially stuck looking for last minute accommodations. After being turned down from many places due to us travelling with a service animal, we called the nahanni inn, which is undergone substantial renovations and is not at all represented by the pictures currently online. We were immediately met with enthusiasm over the phone and arrived in person to incredibly welcoming service. Muaz, one of the owners, had spoken to us on the phone and met us in person, being very quick to accommodate our needs and set us up in the most comfortable rooms which we were allowed to pick out ourselves. Muaz offered us grace, safety, and support after a very difficult and emotional day, even helping us to unload our trucks and taking our suitcases up to our rooms. Muaz had also recommended a place for us to capture the northern lights, and when we mentioned we were missing an important piece of our tripod, he offered us his own equipment when the lights finally appeared. When it was time for us to check out, we had expressed our gratitude and let him know that the nahanni traveller is our first choice of accommodation when we return to fort Simpson in the future. Further as we began to load our truck in -40 degree weather, Muaz refused to let us do it alone, and without gloves or a jacket helped us organize the bed of our truck and lifted our heavy suitcases into the back. The lodging has ample parking, is right in the center of fort Simpson, and hosts cozy and safe accommodation. There is a restaurant with a strong menu, and overall it is a space with incredible people offering beautiful service. Thank you Nahanni traveller and Muaz and co for having us, we will be back!!

Worst hotel in the north. Beds are super high and uncomfortable. There was hair in the tub and curtains. The sheets also had hair and stains. The rug is old, dirty. The staff seem unfriendly and unhappy. They dont seem to know what theyre doing. The restaurant is unlike anything I've seen. The food is overcooked. Burgers are runny and fall apart after one bite. There was a fly in my daughters green tea. So they bought her another one. I noticed walking from the back towards the hotel entrance there is a screen door that leads to the restaurant. I was appalled to see that the door was open and the flies were entering through there. For 185.00 a night it just isnt worth it. Next time Im booking my room and a B&B

This hotel was horrible. The room was obviously not cleaned from the last person who stayed. The bed was old and broken. There was garbage under the bed. The restaurant is overpriced and the food poor quality and the only good thing I can say about the restaurant was a thank-you to other patrons who pointed me in the direction of a beautiful B&B just a 2 minute drive down the river road. Don’t stay here.

I could rate this place a “zero” I would! Standard room rate for 1person is $180, 2 or more is $240, doesn’t included taxes! For a family of 4, the price was ludicrous for a rundown room. The room had two double beds that sagged tremendously, not exaggerating here! Dirty and stained carpet! No A/C, window was glued shut! We had to leave the storm door open all night with a fan propped up by the open screen, just to get some cool air. There is no coffee pot/microwave. For this price, there’s NO complimentary breakfast at the main office, the Nahanni Inn. To top it off the satellite tv was down, couldn’t even get a discount for no TV!! Wifi worked...

We stayed here on our trip from Fort Nelson back to Yellowknife and found the Nahanni Inn a great stay. The two things that stopped me from giving them a Five Star rating was that the phone system was not working and room darkening drapes are needed as it is very bright at night.

To begin the front end staff were excellent. The price was appropriate and the restaurant staff great the food OK. Where it gets disappointing is the room. Beds are actually cots on wheels, worn out and mattresses were like being in a hammock. The real kicker .. . hair and lots of it on the pillows, under the beds, debris from a sock to juice box to crumbs and clearly a long time since a vacuum. So little to clean up properly and leave a first hand impression . . . instead of " am I sleeping in a previously slept in bed. We solved it by using our sleeping bags and thankfully the two young ladies running the front desk acquired fresh pillows and cases. Sad thing is I used this site form my booking . . . and was I surprised (and disappointed).

The beer is cold and the food hot. we were in fort Simpson this past summer but actually ate here in 2014. staff were friendly and took good care of us. I understand there has been a recent change in the cook so I would check with the locals first.

Well if your traveling here you don't have a large selection of places to stay your at the mercy of what's available. Fort Simpson is a small little village which you reach by either ice road or ferry in season. The prices of these rooms would be considered ridiculous in the real world but when your there it's a whole different world. They were clean but not very modern. The restraunt food was average but once again you don't have a lot if choices.

I stayed at their satellite location, the Maroda Inn, which is further down the road and across from the Community Centre. The motel rooms are small quaint structures built around a courtyard with faux-log finishes throughout. There are no services on site. For food, or any administrative matter, you have to trek over to the Nahanni Inn, about 10-15 minute walk. That's also where you could have dinner, but be aware the the hours can vary. If you're looking for a bar/restaurant, the Nahanni has that, there's also the Icebreaker, about 20 minute walk. It's open later (usually). The rooms are clean, if not a bit run down. There's no irons. Apparently you can probably ask for one, but I ended up just buying my own since I needed a small travel iron anyway. But beware, prices at the Northern Store are high. You can get Pizza and all kinds of food there however. All rooms have a fridge.

It's an older building and rooms but it has all the amenities of a modern motel. Coffee shop for breakfast, lunch or dinner and a bar if you want it. Both smoking and non smoking rooms are available. A little steep in price but otherwise not bad.
