We were tired and hungry and lost after a day in our Fiat touring Tuscany in the rain. We arrived at the south gate of San Gimignano and found a shop with owners who called Luca at Molino di Foci for us. Luca got on the phone, assured us that our tears were not necessary, told us where to eat... More

A great beautiful hotel just 5 minutes away from San Gemignano. The hospitality is worth mentioning, a really good atmosphere! A money worthy, Friday dinner with great food. Big and comfortable bed. *The Wi-Fi is weak, *The air condition gets only to 25 degrees - we asked for an extra blanked and got it right away. *A bit hard to... More

Though having only had the Chance of staying for 2 Nights due to some reservation problems (we actually booked 8 nights) caused by the staff (however this is/was really the only Point of criticism) we enjoyed outstanding days at the Molino. Apart from the highly idyllic Pool and Garden, a Perfect place for pure relaxation, the aspect that is Probably... More

This is a perfect place to stay for either a short or longer period. Very welcoming, lovely atmosphere and wonderful Tuscan food offered 3 evenings a week. Very close to San gimignano city walls and a lovely quiet location. Grounds and swimming pool are beautiful and staff extremely helpful. Very highly recommended and would definitely return.

We did stay here for the second time, and there is now indeed a new building with 8 new rooms added this winter. The integration is really perfect, very nice, and the rooms are very beautifull. There are 2 rooms less in the (older) mean building, where they created more space for the dining and kitchen, what was a very... More

We staid here one week with our 4 children. The rooms were nice and clean, and rather comfortable. We had also the rooms at the street side (see other review), and this is not the best but really not a problem. Only it was rather hot without airconditioning, the only disconvenient, but really worthwile. The location is really fantastic, Firenze... More

We stayed for a week and loved our experience. from the food, to the room, to the hospitality of our hosts, Luca and Heidi. They even gave us an itinerary with suggestions of what to do and where to go. It's conveniently located near San Gimignano, Sienna, Florence and the chianti region for day trips. Breakfast was plentiful and our... More

Molino di Foci is a beautiful B&B. It is in a converted watermill which has lots of character, a delightful terrace area and a lovely pool area. The owners and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Thankfully, due to our lack of language skills, they spoke excellent English, as did the majority of the other guests, most of whom... More

Great hotel. Heidi and Lucca and their staff could not do more to help. Dinner (20 euros per person)is served on Mon/Wed and Fri and snacks are available all day. The wine is really good value for money. There is also a great bar less than 1km away that sells great food and does a BBQ night on a Thursday.... More

I've stayed at two other hotels in San Gimingano before (La Cisterna and Leon Blano). Both have a better location, but this hotel was a better value. Still central, with a great suite in the tower which was perfect for all of us, as we were traveling with two kids. Most of the other guests were German, as the innkeeper... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Molino di Foci is an old watermill dating back to the 14th century. After being abandoned for over 40 years it has been carefully restored into a characteristic small hotel, ready to offer guests a warm welcome to the fascinating tuscan countryside. Restoration work has been sympathetically carried out over a number of years using materials and colours typical of Tuscany. As a result, Molino di Foci now offers its' guests the possibility to clearly envisage the life and history of the old watermill while enjoying any modern comforts, amid a wonderful setting surrounded by fields of wheat and spectacular sunflowers. The English speaking owners have a long experience in first class hotellerie and with the restoration they have realized their big dream of their own hotel. Situated on the via Francigena, which originally lead pilgrims from Canterbury to Rome, the Molino di Foci is an historic building protected by the Belle Arti. The Molino di Foci is only 4 kms away from the historic medieval centre of San Gimignano and ideally located for visiting both Siena and Volterra which both lie just 30 kms away, distance to Florence is 45 kms and Pisa airport 80 kms. ... more   less
