I stayed at the Bellevue in mid December. I had reserved a single room but when I saw the balcony overlooked the railroad tracks I decided to request a change. Interlaken is on a busy train line with lots of trains every day. For an extra 10Euros a night I upgraded to a double room facing the river and mountains.... more

We entered Interlaken while driving a loop from Zurich to Basel. The area of Interlaken is breathtaking and would be especially thrilling for people not used to high mountains like we are in Salt Lake. The hotel is in the heart of the city next to a river. This place is a great find. We haven't stayed anywhere else in Interlaken, but we loved this place. The rooms were large. Ours overlooked one of the aqua-green rivers running through the city and we could see the mountains from our room. The rooms were quiet, but the floors were hardwood and did creak some. Lovely hotel, lovely staff, lovely location. The building is beautiful and older, which means creaky floors, but just use the earplugs provided if it bothers you--I loved the charm. Stayed again this year for 9 nights. Didn't see any change since my 2008 stay. The staff as usual are very friendly. My only complaint to Mr. Thomas (the owner) would be to change the Breakfast menu everyday. Literally ate the same COLD breakfast for 10 days. The choice is very limited. We stayed there for 3 nights. The room is with simple furniture, small TV but cozy. You can feel the movement of the floor as this is a building with more than 100 years old. We liked this hotel. It was older with squeaking floors but they didn't keep us up at night. Our room faced the river and had a little balcony. No AC but there was a fan in the armoire. The breakfast was spartan. more
