I selected this hotel for its price and location, and was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience. Requested a room on the top floor up the skinny, steep stairs. There's a handrail, so it was doable, and the reward was a tiny, cheerful, cozy room with a great view of the canal and street below. The bed sat right next... more

I depend on Tripadvisor reviews for bargain hunting, and the other reviews I saw were pretty accurate. I liked this hotel - the staff were very friendly, and they let me check in early after waiting a bit for my room to be cleaned. My room, facing the street, was surprisingly spacious for an inexpensive Amsterdam hotel, even a large... more

Yes, the stairs are steep and there is no lift, so it's not the hotel if you are in any way infirm. However, many buildings in Amsterdam have the same design, so it's worth checking beforehand wherever you book. I enjoyed staying at this hotel; the room was fine (a kettle and tea and coffee-making facilities in the room was... more

I booked to stay here for one night via the website and I was really pleased with the friendly communication from them. The hotel is easy enough to find and was in a perfect location for where I wanted. Sadly I decided not to stay there when I arrived. I was allocated the room on the top floor in what... more

Amsterdam is a very busy city and it's sometimes difficult to find a free room. Therefore are the hotel owners not really motivated to invest money in renovation or facelift of their rooms. Furthermore is Amsterdam not particulary well-known for his cleanliness. You may have disappointments, even in 5 stars hotels. Because of this, it's needless to spent to much... more

Dear Tripadvisors and dear swissstyle ;-) We try to do our best to help our customers so if people prefer a room at the back -which indeed is the less noisy side of the hotel- then we will do our utmost to do so. Furthermore we provide earplugs and we have double glass windows to prevent the noise from entering...

I liked the hospitality of the hotel staff very much. It is very conveniently-located. The hotel is situated in a walkable proximity from the tram station. In the evenings, the square is full with activities of local artisans and people taking their time off for a drink. The hotel staff was quite co-operative and helpful. The rooms were small but... more

Stayed at the hotel for a few days while trippin' and doing the bussines in the city. The hotel itself is small and cozy so if you're looking for something exclusive and trendy - pick another place. The people at the desk is friendly and helpful. When needed to get some adresses and directions - they pointed me them out.... more

I booked this place because the hotel I normally stay in was getting a bit to expensive, so with that I mind I was expecting trhis place to be a down grade. I was very pleasantly surprised. On this trip I was travelling solo and received a warm welcome at the hotel. My room was basic but very clean, and... more

This was our second stay at the Hotel Freeland. We were returning to Amsterdam with my parents and there was no where else I would stay in Amsterdam than with the gang at the Hotel Freeland. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is excellent and fills you up so you are good to go until the late afternoon.... more

I was tempted not to write this review when I saw how many other recent guests at the hotel had written their rave reviews of this delightful small hotel but, in the end, I wanted to add my voice in praise of Rick & Pascale and their well-run establishment. Some earlier reviews were critical of the steep stairs but I... more
