We arrived in the snow to find that our apartment we had rented had no heat and the boiler could not be fixed. We booked a room for the night at V so that we could get on with Birthday celebrations - the staff could not have been more helpful and considerate. We had a basement room that was adequate... More

Just had a weekend in Amsterdam staying at the Hotel V. Excellent location, away from all of the vulgar touristy bits. Staff were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Well appointed bar and lovely fire area, welcoming after dreadfully cold weather. If it wasn't for the inconsiderate other noisy guests I would give a 5/5. Highly recommended and... More

Great location, easy walk into the main parts of Amsterdam, or of course you could hire their bikes! Great restaurants within 5 min walk, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Not the most luxurious hotel, but perfectly acceptabel for the price. Great decor, works really well More

While in Europe, I stayed at Hotel V for three days and returned after a short excursion out of country for another four days. I am a big fan of this hotel from the old location and feared that in the move (a while now I know) they may have lost something. Not so! Highlights...my room included a bike (necessary... More

This is a beautiful hotel right in front of a tram stop (Frederiksplein). The lobby is very nice, the bar serves complimentary coffee and tea during your stay; the bad thing is that this only works during the open hours of the bar. We had a bit of an issue with the night receptionist, who took a lot of convincing... More

Great hotel away from the 'centre' of Amsterdam, but close enough to enjoy walking around the canals - and let's face it, nowhere is very far from anywhere in Amsterdam! The hotel is very well-designed (though the large gold bulldog in the entrance is a little on the odd side...) and uses the space available very well - the rooms... More

A stylish, well-located hotel. Breakfast was included, but I was surprised to have to pay extra for eggs other than boiled. My room, a small double in the basement, was sparsely furnished, poorly lit, not carpeted and had a lot of bare concrete (presumably the modern style). The wardrobe was a pop up standing away from the wall. The TV... More

A stylish hotel with a very convenient tram stop right outside. Our bedroom and ensuite were pretty small, but functional. It would have been nice for the lights to have been a bit brighter, it was very dull in our room and also for there to have been carpet instead of a cold floor. The free tea and coffee from... More

The hotel is perfectly fine. I really liked the public room downstairs. But, the overall stay was just average. The hotel room itself was nice, but could be a bit more functional. There was no closet, just a portable Ikea like wardrobe. The sloped ceiling made it a little difficult to get around the bed. I did really like the... More

Looking for a modern hip place to take our two grown-up sons and girlfriends we picked the V and were not disappointed. The lounge area is a lovely place to chill with its welcoming open fire and great design. All the staff are very friendly and try hard to please, in an informal and unobtrusive kind of way. The offer... More
