Stayed for 2 nights whilst attending a Lotus rally around Ypres. Met by Dirk, who served up tea and apple pie - delicious! Our room was large, comfortable and spotless. Dirk was a fountain of knowledge and his collection of war artifacts was fascinating. Breakfast was filling with varied choice, and we were invited to make up rolls to take... More

This is a simply superb B&B just east of Ypres, near Tyne Cot military cemetery. The rooms are clean comfortable and nicely appointed, and the entire site is very tidy and well presented. Barbara and Dirk speak excellent English and on-line booking was simple. There is undercover storage for motorcycles, in the barn that also houses a collection of war... More

As usual we were met on arrival by Dirk and Barbara and enjoyed home made apple cake and coffee. We were in Belgium to continue our pilgrimage of visiting cemetarys, museums and other key points, which pay tribute to the fallen in the Great War and as ever Dirk was only to helpful in assisting with our efforts. The rooms as previously mentioned were spotless absolutely excellent accommodation, and the showers even better especially after spending the days on motorcycles. The breakfast catered for every taste typically continental, breads jams etc , with wide selection of jams and cheeses. my friends and I... More

Dug, the farmer owner is about as welcoming and genuine as any host could ever be. The rooms are spotless, large, clean, airy. If you want to visit the battlefields of Flanders then it would be hard to find a better place to stay

Having booked Varlet Farm from previous comments by guests, the location, accommodation and welcome received was fabulous. Large rooms, located smack bang on the Passendale battlefields, our hosts were extremely generous and helpful. Barbara has lots of knowledge of battlefield sites and history of the area. Remnants of the first world war still being unearthed on their own property. The... More

Having stayed in many B&B establishments over the years in many countries I would like to say that Varlet farm is by far the most superior yet. We were greeted by Dirk and Barbara and given the wonderful apple cake and tea. Barbara sat down and spent at least 45 minutes chatting to us. Our room was spacious and very... More

As always, greeted with delicious home baked apple pie and a friendly welcome from Dirk! This is my third visit to Varlet Farm and I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. Well appointed cozy and spacious rooms with large spotless bathrooms. Common areas are comfortable, relaxing and filled with an abundance of interesting local battlefield reading, a fridge filled... I stayed with my wife and kids in May 2012. We literally slept in the midst of Flanders Fields. Not to be too melodramatic but at night it was so moving to look out into the gathering dusk. Very quiet, just birds which only added to the experience of being in a beautiful but sombre place. We were greeted by... More
