We had a very nice time over Christmas week in this charming, solidly-built (sound proofing appreciated with children) art-filled cottage. We were given detailed directions in advance, and basic food stuffs were in the kitchen when we arrived, allowing us a relaxed first afternoon on-site. The kitchen was very well equiped (nice pots and great quality knives really appreciated). Tasteful... More

We are delighted to find guests who are on sabbatical (work or study abroad) as they are particularly appreciative of the local culture and very stimulating to talk to. This was a lovely family who tried everything they possibly could within the time they had. Bonne chance! More

We have just spent four days in this wonderful region , and our accomodation in the Casa do Celeiro has been very comfortable and private . We chose the annex accomodation , with breakfast taken in the main house overlooking the ocean . Breakfasts were very good fare and a delightful way to start each day . The welcome to... More

Rarely do you find a place where the owners live next door and treat you like friends! Alan and Mary are very warm and hospitable, and Mary's art classes are relaxed but informative - I hadn't picked up a paint brush for 30 years, and still had fun! The house is comfortable and homely and well equipped. The views are... More

It is always a joy to (re)introduce someone to one of my art classes as eventually they 'muck-in' and discover some dormant talent! Brilliant. More

Everything is here: stunning views out to sea; peace and quiet in a secluded but accessible location; fabulous hill walks; comfort in the cosy cottage; friendly and most welcoming hosts, Alan and Mary who also gave us excellent advice on what to see and do while we were here. In addition I took part in one of Mary's art classes... More

Here is a genuine historic location, updated to contemporary tastes, but retaining the rich, earthy flavor of it heritage. Fabulous ocean views from the cottage and a pool surrounded by a magnificent setting of green flora. Day trips include many exquisite adventures. Friendly hosts are celebrated artists, who have had the vision to transform this farmette into an elegant home... More

First of all, Mary and Alan were the most welcoming hosts - full of warmth, giving you space to do as you please, yet always available to give advice about where to go, must-sees etc. They have a pure passion for what they do and deserve credit for that. Alma, their dog, is also a special addition to the family!!... More

An extremely flattering and warm review which we find so encouraging and helpful. Not much else to say except thank you, come back soon and I we hope we can help you find more exciting bits of culture and unusual corners here in Sintra and Portugal. More

Unforgetable Holidays. The house is comfortable and really cosy. The views, specially from the swimming pool are gorgeous. The owners live just beside and were very respectfull of our privacy. We had a really great time and we made many delicious barbecues... Highly recommended! More

We were delighted with the charming young Argentinian / Spanish connection from Buenos Aires / Madrid. The couple who organised the hoiday invited friends and family and appeared to enjoy the reunion amidst BBQs, beach outings, trips to Lisbon and just relaxing. Alma our dog also took great delight in being part of their company. We do hope they return... More

We spent two wonderful weeks at the Casa do Celeiro with our twins (12), and with our parents and we enjoyed every minute of it. The house and garden are beautiful and in an ideal spot. Secluded, but not remote, with the most stunning view of Almocageme and the Atlantik, an individual, tranquil and very private place that felt like... More

I have just discovered this option of responding to guests' reviews. Fortunately I remember well the very charming family from Germany who were so appreciative of us, the house and the area. We did spend a good time chatting and getting to know one another. Indeed they were very lucky with the weather as being in a microclimate keeps you... More
