The hotel may have been a 4star at one time, but sadly the décor needs updating, as does the chef in the restaurant.The food needs more imagination and effort, and should cater a little more for western tastes, as rather than catering mainly for eastern European/ Russian etc. I would say the star rating should be more like 3 star.... lovely hotel, some 100 m from the gate that you enter charming old town... from rethymnon you could visit santorini, as well as many attractions of the island of crete... if you prefer lazy vacations, there is a long, crowdy, sandy beach with planty of pubs and restaurants... it is always sunny with pleasant meltemi wind. back to the hotel...... Hotel was in good place, from 10 minutes from beach. Use a"wild" beach near the city, there is not wind and waves:-). The pool on the top of hotel was very good, especially in the mornings. In reception was very friendly staff. Thank you!
