Not the best Edda hotel in Iceland. Again, dorm-style rooms, not too comfortable, in the local school; scarce showers (we actually had to queue in the morning); understaffed... Breakfast is just correct. A little walk to the town center where I 'm sure the local hotels offer better facilities, although I didn't check their prices. Free wifi, which is not... More

This "hotel" is actually the dormitory for the local high school. The service and accommodations echo this. The front desk service was sketchy. Our room was a long walk from reception through echoing hallways. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, but the decor was spartan. All the aforementioned would have been just fine if it hadn't been for the... More

Hotel Edda is very comfortable with a friendly and helpful staff. No hair dryer, so take your own. The breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, meat/cheese, etc. BTW - plain yogurt is called sour milk in Iceland. The area is very scenic and every place is a short walking distance.

We stayed here for two nights in an old class room. You had to bring your own sleeping bag. The room had approx. 10 beds and a shared toilet in the hall. Might cost extra to use the shower ( we did it anyway and never asked ;) )

I used this Edda hotel a couple of times the previous year, and was pleased to be able to stay there again. However, I wanted to stay for two nights, and they only had a vacancy for one night. I took it, and had their usual incredible breakfast spread, then asked if I could leave most of my gear in... More

I booked this without particularly high expectations having read the reviews on TripAdvisor, but we were really pleasantly surprised. The double room with shower was clean, comfortable, quiet, and exactly what we needed before and after a few days camping on the remote and rainswept Hornstrandir peninsula. Granted it's not a luxury hotel but the staff were extremely friendly, the... More

We personally think that staying in Edda Hotels was the best choice in Iceland - better than private accommodations. The rooms are big and so are the bathrooms, simple furniture, very clean - excellent breakfast. If you stay for several nights in Edda-Hotels, remember that you get a free breakfast for the third night and the fifth night is completely... More

Isafjordur's Edda Hotel is located in a functional school building a short way out of town; the place provides what you can expect from this chain - tiny clinical (as regards atmosphere, not cleanliness!) 'rooms'; lots of very noisy families with very noisy children contributing to the overall boarding school vibe; acceptable facilities and an above-average buffet breakfast. Okayish if... More

I'd heard about the Edda Hotels, which operate in big school buildings in summer, but this was my first experience of one. I actually arrived in town late at night with no accommodation booked, but the minibus driver did a quick phone around, confirmed that almost all beds in town were taken, and discovered that the Edda Hotel still had... I have been quite disappointed by this hotel: it looks more like a students dormitory than a normal hotel. There is no free internet connection like in many other structures in iceland, toilet and showers were not enought in number for all the rooms. All the hostels and guesthouses that I have been in Iceland were cheaper and better than... More
