Guðmundur Jonasson’s headquarters at Borgartun in Reykjavik house not only our main travel office and fleet of vehicles, but also a good standard 22 room Guest House – all comfortable bedrooms are en-suite and have a colour TV. There is also a breakfast room and lounge with internet access and it is only a short walk to the main swimming pool and close to a good selection of restaurants. Reykjavik City Centre is within easy reach, either by foot or by local bus.
Traveler beware. This place cancelled on us two weeks before my scheduled arrival. I booked this months ago. When I texted Vygandras that I was disappointed that he cancelled on me, he replied, "Hi, sorry. It is how it is, try to find another bnb." Are you kidding??!!

We have traveled around Iceland for a week and spend our last night in Guesthouse Borgartun. Compared with all other places we stayed over the week this was the worst. It is not a usual guesthouse but more of a very low budget hotel. There's no kitchen for guests to use, so if you're on the road trip like us and planing on cooking then just forget it. The place look like it's been decorated and done decades ago and hasn't been touched since. Our room smelled like mint mouthwash when we walked in. It's right but the main road and since windows are old and in poor conditions we could hear everything that was going on outside. The bathroom was tiny and smelly. The towels ripped and old. Sink drain blocked so we had to be careful when running water. Lots of dust, hairs on the sheets and general feeling of room being dirty. The lift in the building didn't work half the night and unlucky for us we stayed on the top floor. The breakfast was included in the price but it very basic continental breakfast so don't expect much. I guess I can't expect 5* experience paying the price we did, however I wouldn't recommend staying there but would suggest to look for something else. However there is one massive plus! The staff is super nice and helpful! ;-)…

To say I was shocked is an understatement. This "hotel" was positioned on the third and forth floor of what appeared to be an office block. It was dull, dirty and miserable. Continental breakfast reasonable, although the coffee and hot water were served in flasks. The bed linen was all creased. The only good thing about this place was the comfortable bed and the fact I only had to spend three nights there.

We recently stayed here for 4 nights and although it doesnt look like much from the outside we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The staff were friendly and the bedroom was warm, comfy and clean. What more do you need in this beautiful city. Thank you!

We stayed in this hotel as part of a tour. Our travel agent said this hotel was basic and she was correct. The room was no frills with 2 twin beds, a desk, and a small bathroom. The room was clean, although the bathroom was dingy and felt old. The hotel manager was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was basic but fine. We found a few restaurants close by, a block down the street from The Subway and Nesti convenient store.

Not in a good location. Nothing around the guesthouse. Not within walking distance to the city. Very old building. Rooms very average and basic, but clean enough and warm in winter. The plumbing in the toilets is not ventilated, so the bathroom smells rotten after a shower (keep the door closed at all times). Breakfast basic, but at least it was something.

Stayed here in January 2016 on a short break to Iceland. The beds were comfortable, the room reasonably well fitted and although near a main road we weren't troubled by traffic noise. Quite a nice view of the harbour and mountains to the east from the bedroom window. Enjoyed the "Icelandic" buffet breakfast - good simple food. I found the staff to be pleasant, the manager Signy being very helpful - keeping the family tradition alive as the travel company on the middle floor & the bus company on the ground floor belong to her father and family. I would be more than happy to return here - I don't need or expect a five star hotel.

Hotel is cheap and basic, good to stay for a few nights. Comfortable beds, shower good enough but does smell of sulphur but you are warned about this. Short walk to local petrol station, Subway sandwich shop and another eating/drinking place. Breakfast is basic, consisting of, breads, a few cereals, coffee, tea. A microwave and toaster are also available

We were very disappointed. The shower was dirty and clogged with hair. The soap dispenser was empty and you can see it was empty for s long time already as it was very old. The lady apologized and moved us to a another room. We went to the breakfast room and noticed that the tables were still dirty. There were not even serviettes on the tables and no salt available the next morning for breakfast. It id far from the city centre. I will never stay in this place again
