If I'm ever back in Vienna, I'll have to try this again and have a full meal. We went later in the evening and ate light. Everything we had was great! A very historic building and the service was very good. A little on the pricey side. Make sure you ask if you can see the Mark Twain room as... More

I booked to take some friends here with some trepidation, given several rather unfavourable reviews. All I can say is, it almost seems like they were reviewing a different restaurant! We had a great evening. The staff were really friendly and efficient. The food was well cooked. Ok, this is not Michelin star - it doesn't pretend to be, obviously.... More

The venue is lovely very quaint and romantic. The food is very good with matching service. The restaurant is not cheap but very well worth every penny. Definitely a must. This is all I wanted to say about the restaurant but trip advisor wanted me to say more so I am filling up space with useless talk :)

Although situated in downtown Vienna, in the middle of the tourist area, this restaurant is surprisingly quiet, lots of locals eat there too. It's not cheap, but the food is worth it: try the Wiener Schnitzel! The restaurant is full of history, too, so make sure you have your camera with you! A perfect alternative to other famous Schnitzel places.... More

Food, service, atmosphere - very traditional. Food is very good. Restaurant is large, but made up of a series of small rooms so you have the feeling of an intimate setting. We were in the zither room, and our entertainment was an older gentleman who could play anything you wanted to hear on a zither, although he did favor the... More

The reservations were made by the reception personnel at our hotel and we were very surprised at the table we originally were seated at, especially since we're sure the hotel sends the restaurant a lot of customers. Our first table was in an area just past the bar that was basically the service area for the waiters as there was... More

The location was full of charm and history. There was an inn at this location as mentioned in records from 1147. Frequented by Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, Mark Twain, and many others who signed the walls in one room of the restaurant. The food was typical Austrian fare - the goulash was rich and tasty, and the three sausage meal was... More

interesting, old Vienna - great service and interesting decor with excellent food. This is the first place in Vienna I would recommend visitors try. Note this is not a hotel - tripadvisor needs to change classification. It evidently was an inn 4-500 years ago, but is now a restaurant.

We found out by trial and error that you really need to book here at weekends. We ended up eating here on a Sunday night, but the place was full and they were turning people away. The decor and food are both traditional Austrian; meaty, carb-laden, hearty grub served in wood-pannelled surroundings by experienced waiters who may seem quite stern... More

… toss a coin into the old pirate cave at the entrance to the restaurant’s main building. In the summer, enjoy the garden dining. Food is very tasty, with lot of choices from light to heavy. Lovely experience. With you bill you get a keep sake …
