They say it will be closed for 3 months reopening in late August after a complete refit , sounds great , it should be a great old English Pub in a fantastic harbour setting cant wait .... It has tremendous potential

We had the misfortune to dine here literally 3 days before we'd heard they'd closed, am not surprised in the least!! We went to order our meals at the bar, only to be left part way through, by the owner, to deal with a food complaint by 4 other diners. When ordering resumed, she then left again, to deal with... the old ship aground is now up for auction as we found out today after travelling down from Bath hoping for a weekend break that had been booked a few months ago.No one bothered to contact us with regard this change of circumstances, which left us very angry, and upset to say the least. These people need to take lessons in business management... We booked in to the wreck for Christmas Day dinner, lovely Habour Location and beer was good. Chef meet with us and was attentive and had a good understanding of my childrens nut and lactose problems and seemed happy to do veggie options. In fairness to the chef the food was good apart from the creamy source served on the... More

. A quick review from someone who is happy to eat and drink anywhere, as long as you get what you expect. The previous night we'd dined at Sashes - fine dining, other nights Weatherspoons. So you get the idea, I'm not a food snob, I go where it suits. Anyway, passing the The Old Ship Aground whilst strolling, my... More

It is quite difficult to rate this place as there are quite diverse possibilities. I have stayed here several times and this week enjoyed another stay with fishing friends. The Landlady does a great job of trying to keep the place together as her elderly mother is no longer able to do much. Everytime we stay we have a great... More

Initially opted to stay here as i had a beer here before and the location was incredible, like a movie setting, quaint, by a harbour, traditional looking and peaceful. Where do I start, it Seemed the landlady is an alcoholic with learning difficulties. We arrived, no welcome with smile. All staff like the Addams family. Nice steak and chips on... More

This was the 1st stop before embarking on part of the South West Coastal Walk. The nicest thing about Minehead is the old fashioned Steam Train...well worth a ride. The Old Ship Aground, great name, great spot..but that's it! The place is tired, scruffy and ascending the stairs smelt heavily of stale tobacco....very unpleasant! This could be a fantastic place,... More

I'd been looking forward to good plateful of fish and chips all day. I remember eating a super meal here a couple of years ago so this was the obvious place to go. The menu stated 'Freshly battered cod' with chips and peas. When it arrived I pushed my fork into the fish and fat oozed onto the plate. Inside... More

This is a gem of a pub right at the end of the seafront over looking the harbour. It’s over 100 years old and you can feel the history about the place. The choice of beer was excellent, as was the welcome and the lovely real fire crackling away. Worth the 10 minute walk from the centre and the pay... More
