Having read the reviews decided this was the hotel for me and my son on a two night break, taking advantage of the 2 for 1 offer on the hotel website. The reviews on the hotel being dated are a true account but there's loads of character in the hotel. The location is right opposite the Dunoon car ferry, our... More

If you don't mind the place being a bit dated, this is a lovely hotel with fantastic views from the front rooms. We particularly enjoyed visiting the nearby botanic gardens. The hotel is about a mile from Dunoon with a great walk along the front.

stayed there overnight on a golf weekend with 11 others, not the most modern but the staff could not do enough nothing was a problem , would definitely recommend this hotel , it is right in front of where you get the ferry and as dunoon is not that big it is only 5 min in a cab to the... More

Stayed here for one night and was warmly welcomed and checked in with minimum fuss. The room was light, very spacious and simply furnished with classic furniture. An electric convector heater was provided and already switched on which was rather nice. The bed was really comfortable and made for a great sleep, whilst the view out over the Holy Loch/Firth... Stayed in rooms over looking the port which was nice. Old fashioned furniture which was nice but in need of some restoration. Bed was comfortable. Tea & coffee making facilities BUT no biscuit or shortbread to go with it!!! En suite in need of upgrading in some rooms but water was hot!! Breakfast was average but piping hot. Staff were... More

I've just spent four days at this hotel and found the service and food to be of excellent quality. The food portions were plentiful and always served at the right temperature and by a friendly and cheerful staff. The hotel itself is in sore need of a (very costly) revamp, but was still clean and warm, with a welcoming atmosphere.... More

Had a lovely quiet meal in Ghillies bar. Food was ok, very fast. The outside looks spectacular and is extremely close to the ferry but the inside needs a lot of work doing to it and quality of food has dropped. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially a waitress called Helena. Definitely look to be served by her, she... More

Friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Spacious room, but rather chilly and draughty on a wet and wild night. Hotel does need a revamp, but you get the impression that the staff are really doing their best coping with a rambling (and no doubt, costly) building. Sad, bet it was a really imposing and impressive place 'in its day'. Keep up... More

We have eaten here many times in the north wing of the Royal Marine Hotel and it has dropped in quality and value for money recently. The bar menu has not changed in about 20 years except for about 5 years ago when they took some items off, but that you can live with. However the portion sizes have shrunk... More
