I stayed at Cavendish for several months with business, but finally had to give up on it. Some of the rooms are really appalling, even for the price. Although that said, the room on the top floor is really rather nice. And every room has a new bathroom. However, the public areas of the hotel are run down, and most... More

We found the Cavendish at the last minute when visiting family and decided to stay overnight. We are a family of four and had a family room which was just perfect for us. The bathroom and rooms were lovely and clean, and the beds comfortable. As other reviews state this is not a 5 star hotel, but they are not... More

Have just stayed at the Cavendish Hotel, and found the staff warm and welcoming, if your looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not for you, but if your looking for a comfortable, reasonable priced hotel, I would recommend this hotel. The Breakfast is a high light, the bed although hard, was surprizingly comfortable, and both my partner and i... We stayed at the Cavendish for 7 nights and were warmly received by owners Emma and Luke, who couldn´t do enough for us.I would gladly return as it was reasonably priced, and our room was comfortable and clean. It does not profess to be a 5star establishment but the warmth with which was shown to us was priceless.Thank you and I thoroughly recommend... Well I stopped in the Cavendish for two nights as I had a problem and couldn’t get back up home to Newcastle upon Tyne until the Monday. The outside of the hotel is clean. the whole hotel needs new windows and doors and needs a paint as it looks a bit scruffy. The front door needs a good clean as... More

Thankyou for your constructive criticism about our hotel. In the last two months and even in the months previous to you staying here we have under gone major refurbishments including. Contrary to other reviews, the Cavendish Hotel is far from in a dreadful state. The hotel is benefitting from a slow renovation currently being undertaken by the propriator, Luke Davies. It is our understanding that the hotel was in a very poor state when it was purchased and a lot of work was needed to bring it up to scratch.... More

I was only staying for two nights, and was mainly after a bit of quiet and a sea-view. The view from my room was fantastic - at high tide I was only about 100 feet from the sea, and the room, though a bit sparse, was clean, and the bed new and comfortable. The staff and owner were friendly, and... More

Family room was a smoking room, didn't know such things existed any more and was surprised we weren't told when we booked. The SMELL was awful in most parts of the hotel. The room was mouldy, carpet worn fixtures broken and not even any light bulbs when we got there. Manager was friendly right up untill we complained on checkout... More

Thank you for your constructive criticism . I am pleased to say that since your stay our hotel has undergone major renovations under the new ownership of Luke and Emma. The rooms that you speak about have had new carpet put down, new bathrooms put in, we have hired competent staff to deal with the cleaning side of our hotel.... More
