My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights in February, we arrived around 5 and were warmly greeted and show to our room, the hotel has a lovely atmosphere far removed from the bright and sterile surroundings you find in modern hotels. We ate in the restaurant on the first night, and the food was very nice and prepared... More

My wife and I took my brother and his wife for birthday dinner ,nice welcome, shown into lounge with open fire, thought this is going to be good. Well we were shown into a cold dark dining room, and waited for our meal, the only good bits being the service, and the pleasant staff, the meal itself was in a word miniscule.... More

Our son and daughter-in-law held their marriage at the hotel on December 3rd 2011,which was a wonderful occasion in every way. The setting was perfect, with a warm and friendly atmosphere in the hotel. Andy and Rebecca need praise for the way we were looked after throughout the day, night and the following morning, with a constant supply of fantastic... More

If you want a small intimate wedding, then look no further,,,this is the place to book. We had our wedding here on 3rd Dec 2011. You are surrounded by stunning views of the Cairngorms, this traditional stone built 10 bedroom lodge supplied the whole package, ranging from uber friendly staff, outstanding quality of food. At a fantastically reasonable rate. We... More

The Muckrach experience is a two way street, and this review is proof that when the customer understands us, and we understand the customer, it's a very fine street to be on. We are delighted this couple chose Muckrach as the place to embark on their married life - it's the perfect place for intimate gatherings of up to 30... More

We stayed one night here as a mini honeymoon. The hotel is exactly what we hoped for, we wanted somewhere very Scottish and we got it. Beautiful historic building, highland cows in the field, crackling fire to drink your evening drinks by. Yes, its a bit quirky, the colour schemes are a bit mismatched but it all adds to its... More

We arrived on a glorious September morning and this place looked lovely. Reviewed the various menus on display (al a carte and lighter bar meals) and made a reservation for dinner. Returned late afternoon and checked in to be shown to our room which transpired to be slightly separate fom the main building and suitable for disabled visitors. Slightly disappointed... More

I booked this hotel in July 2011 for my wifes birthday in October only to recieve an email 6 weeks later confirming 'that due to circumstances beyond there control they would have to cancel my booking and refund my deposit'. That was two weeks ago and despite emailing the hotel expressing my dissappointment and informing them that their web site... More

I thought Tripadvisor had sorted themselves out, and stopped accepting reviews from people who have never stayed. Oh well! More

Stayed for two nights, room comfortable, but cold. Dined in restaurant on first night, table booked for 1930 hrs, called through from bar about 1950 hrs and 'amuse bouche' arrived at 2030 hrs, the first course sometime later. Selection of bread was white, or white with sesame seeds - disappointing. The food when it arrived was nicely presented and well... More

I'm sorry for the delay. Personally I hate waiting too long in restaurants, and 'too long' is a subjective thing. We try to serve everyone amuse bouche plus three courses in about an hour and a half. Sometimes we fail, and can only apologise that front of house weren't perceptive enough to look after this client better. More

We recenlty had dinner here. Portions were miniscule - usually protions this small come as part of a multiple course meal, but were far too small for the 2/3 courses offered. The main was bland and had no sauce. But what is even worse, is that when I complained afterwards, the Director, yes the Director, suggested it was all in... More

Opinion, opinion... For the record our portions are not miniscule. Dinner commences with a complimentary amuse bouche, which changes daily but last night was a delicious cullen skink with an onion scone and lumpfish caviar. Starters are starter size, and mains are very main - the average ribeye is 250g, the average duck breast around 220g. Potatoes, vegetables and other... More

We have stayed for 3 nights in this hotel and we have enjoyed our stay. As we were travelling with 2 small children we asked for a bigger room and we got nr. 10. That has the view on the adjacent castle, has an additional bed room and is very spacious. We had dinner and breakfast and both were good.... More

I thought I'd put up a thank you for this nice review. We often get defensive and boxed into replying only to the negative ones and that's not right. If there's a genuine problem or issue I would hope to resolve it long before anyone felt the need to trash us on Tripadvisor, but sometimes that's not possible. So thank... More
