We decided to eat at the Old Ferry on the last day of our holiday this year, which turned out to be a mistake. Maybe they were very busy because of the bad weather and a full hotel, but the service was truly terrible. And the food was worse. I wish they would decide whether to be a restaurant and... More

We've just had 3 wonderful nights here. Incredible views from bedroom window across to fowey, magical at night. The staff are so helpful, friendly, delightful. Pasquale is very lucky to have them though he must be a good boss for them to be so happy! Suppers were delicious, seafood chowder & starter of crab bisque in particular. Recommended to visit... Stayed one night. Lovelly place with amazing views. Unfortunately the location is difficult and driving complicated due to this. Parking very restrictive. Having said this. The food was fine and rooms livable. All in all a great stay but parking and driving could do with an overhaul. Realy enjoyable stay

Views from the deck, fabulous; service good; ploughman's - miserly salad. The ham ploughman's had thick-cut slices of ham, but that was the only positive. Salad garnish - tiny tiny cubes of cucumber - maybe a quarter of a slice each. HALF a pickled onion. more than £7. Rip off frankly, which is a pity because the location is great... More

This is our third time at the Ferry Inn. Location-wise you cannot beat it, especially if you have a river-facing room. The views are outstanding up the Fowey Estuary. However, it is NOT in Fowey, it is in Bodinnick, which is the opposite side of the river to the town of Fowey. This means either a short ferry ride from... More

We recently had a five night stay at this inn and found it hard to fault. Pascal and his team are very welcoming and even our dogs were made to feel at home. The room was clean and comfortable with a stunning view.Breakfast and dinners served in the dining room were excellent with plenty of choice. The new owners are... More

Had two visits to this Inn recently, one with a friend and next with wife. Rooms clean, beds good and plenty of hot water, my wife's main criteria ticked. Being an old building rooms are all over the place; some bedroom views are spectacular as are the views from the balconies and dining room. Bar, housed in a 400 year... More

Having read favourable reviews we chose 'The Old Ferry Inn'. We drove around the hamlet seeking parking for 30 minutes. Friendly greeting, shown to an old fashioned room the type I recall from the 80's. TV I thought was an I Pod (9"), en suite with extraction fan that woke the whole floor, sprung bed with 1 pillow each (the... More

I was supporting our small team attempting the Lands End to John o Groats cycle route. This was night two. Terrible cycling conditions and wicked wild wind and Cornish lashing rain. A quick dash over the estuary and we had found our little oasis. The old and slightly battered appearance gave way to comfortable and slightly quirky room and bathroom... More

We made this our base for a two night trip to this part of Cornwall with friends over from Chicago. The location is 'interesting', it being separated from the main village of Fowey by a ferry ride which only runs until early evening, so we ended up eating at the hotel twice for dinner as well as breakfast, and having... Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan.
