On my way to Scotland I needed an hotel just off the A1(M) and close to Durham and found a reference to Bowburn Hall. It is situated in the middle of a very uninteresting residential 'town'/village, not far from Durham and I really had no idea what to expect. What I found was a truly remarkable little hotel that was... More

We take our son, daughter in law and two grandchildren there quite often. There is always a varied menu and specials on. The conservatory is very good when you have got children with you, as they can play safely outside on the grassed area.

Called here for a meal on a Saturday evening. Managed to get a seat in the conservatory overlooking the garden. Good choice of food on the menu and specials board. Food and service are really good, my only gripe is that the burgers are served on wooden blocks which is something I'm not a big fan of. Sunday lunches here... More

Stayed a weekend for a wedding and thought it was great value for money. The staff were particularly helpful especially the housekeeping staff. Was very clean and we had a great weekend all in all. Would have nice to have had some hot food on arrival but our we arrive until after 9.30. Room was fine, and bathroom was a... More

Chose hotel out of location as were visiting friend's nearby, however proved to be a very comfortable stay. Initial impressions weren't great as we were ignored by two members of staff who chose to answer the telephone instead of greeting us for check in however a very nice guy came to the rescue after about 5 mins of standing there!... Had our daughters wedding here, firstly the staff were amazing, worked so hard to make our day special, they are all very young but very professional, The hotel has character with all the different areas to sit, the gardens, conservatory, bar area, etc. The rooms are in the process of being updated but the ones that have have been tastefully decorated.... We chose this hotel as a last minute getaway and were pleasantly surprised, quaint but a little bit out dated and could do with a bit of a revamp. Staff are excellent, a special mention to Nicky on the front desk and Ross in the restaurant who made our stay special. For the price you can't go wrong and central... More

This hotel is not the most modern or luxurious, the rooms are not the largest I have slept in nor are they the most modern. it is a good very clean quiet hotel located close to Durham and it has reasonably priced rooms for its 3 star status. Breakfast is really good and served by a very pleasant and friendly... More

My wife & I stayed for one night at Bowburn Hall whilst visiting Durham. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Our room, a standard double, although small was beautifully furnished & decorated, & also very comfortable. On the down side the en-suite bathoom had an extractor fan but better ventilation is needed to avoid the mould & standing water... More
