+ Close to city centre; just a 10 minute walk. + Polite staff - Understaffed; we had a long wait to check-in. - Very dirty room! - We were not given a second duvet for the single bed, so we had to go to reception. The duvet we were given was covered in brown stains. - Odd layout, split between... More

This Travelodge is in 2 buildings. First I was put in room 3 - along with room 4 there are some serious stairs to negotiate to access it in the old part of the building but, having pre-booked wifi, it was too far away from signal and I had to be moved. I moved to the newer building - and... More

This Travelodge is in the old railway station and once you've worked out the slightly unusual layout of the car park it's pretty quirky. We stayed there on a Saturday night and walked into town in about 10 minutes, which makes it perfect for a cheap city stay. I was initially concerned about the Sambuca bar next door - I've... More

The hotel is in a good location, just a short walk from the center. It is also cheap compared with other is the area. However there were a few small details that would have made the stay much better. Firstly in a double room that we had booked for two occupants only had one extra pillow, as we arrived quite... More

Having stayed in a few Travelodge's recently, I must say they are not my cup of tea. I know they are designed to be cheap with few frills but some have been very dirty and some have even had lingering odours throughout. Saying that, the Travelodge in Durham is definitely the best I have stayed in. Much cleaner, good location,... More

My husband and I stayed two nights . The Travelodge was everything we expected it to be, basic but clean and comfortable. It was in a very good location within a few minutes walk to the centre of town. There was ample parking and the rooms in the annexe were quiet and peaceful. The reception staff Diane and Margaret were pleasant... More

Usual Travelodge experience, basic accommodation without the trimmings of soap or shampoo, but warm & comfortable. The bath in my room was a miracle of miniaturisation! I basically had to wash one body-part at a time; thankfully there was no camera to record my gyrations. This particular Travelodge is within walking distance of the City centre and has the bonus... Stayed for one night in a family room in annexe. Basic accommodation but clean, comfortable, quiet and warm, despite the snow outside. Extra bed/sofa was hard and not very wide, OK for a teen or younger but would not be great for an adult. Small reception manned by friendly and helpful lady. Reasonably priced restaurant - mainly Italian-style fare -... More

Simple room with double bed only. Room was in the annex which is a little walk away from the main building. Restaurant attached which was very busy on a Saturday night with locals and guests (mainly Italian menu.) Great location to central Durham with easy and plentiful parking. Very accommodating staff when we needed to get changed for a wedding... More

We booked this Travelodge for two reasons, firstly the location to Durham and secondly the price. I know you get what you pay for but we were very disappointed. We stayed out in the annex which i'd read was the best place to be. The bedroom was clean but basic, no sofa just a chair and the most uncomfortable mattress... More
