All inclusive break was excellent value for money. Room clean and big comfy bed. Complementary products in the bathroom - only one niggle, had to leave the bathroom door open as there is no heating in the bathroom. Staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. We enjoyed our stay. More

Stayed one night for business meeting in the area. Hotel was reasonably appointed although a little tired in parts. Room was comfortable although not an enormous amount of space. The shower needs updating to pwer status and you have to climb over a very high bath (which is very short) to get in/out. Shower enclosure leaked badly soaking the floor.... More

Thank you for your comments. I do find it a little difficult to accept your comment that the hotel is 'tired in parts' particularly as we have just spent £1.2m refurbishing a large amount of bedrooms and the public areas. We do not normally receive complaints about the bathrooms so I was disappointed to read that you found it unsatisfactory.... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our all inclusive deal at this hotel. It was very good value and we will try a Mercure hotel again. Franco in the restaurant was particularly friendly and helpful. We were most impressed that we were able to have a pack up lunch to take out as we were going to Liverpool for the... More

My wife and two friends chose the Oaks for a weekend away. Having been on a couple of Mercure's all-inclusive deals before we thought we would try Wigan - simply because we'd never been to Wigan before. We were very pleased with the hotel and the service we received from the staff. The hotel was modern and clean and the... More

I arrived at the Oak after taking the 10 minute walk from the railway station, 3 minutes in a taxi if your legs won’t carry you. Reception was very professional and efficient, given directions to my room and a Wi-Fi card for the duration of my stay. My room was a good size and came with a huge bed; other... More

The hotel was very nice but our bedroom had no heating on prior to our arrival and the only heater in the room was very very small. Even leaving the heating full on all night failed to warm the room sufficantly by morning. In addition the bathroom had no heating and so we had to leave the bathroom door open... More

I was sorry to read your comments in regards to the bedroom heating. Ordinarily, the heating is left to our guests discretion in order for them to have the room at the temperature that suits them. As I am sure you can appreciate, we do not leave the heating on when rooms are not occupied in order to save energy.... More
