Impressive hotel on the outside very victorian but with limited car parking. The only option was to park on the road and pay every two hours until 6pm when it then becomes free. We were in a "deluxe jacuzzi suite" on the lower ground floor. Massive room but I am not sure what was deluxe about it. It smelt damp... More

I have read alot of reviews on this hotel and went with an open mind. It is lovely inside, very clean, comfy bed and helpful staff! The hotel is very vintage so if you like mod cons, flat screen TVs and clean lines this place is not for you! The hotel was a bargain £50 for dinner with wine, bed... More

Good Points The Prince of Wales hotel is well situated in Southport on Lord Street. The entrance with lounges and open fires were lovely and welcoming. The restaurant and food was very good for the price we paid. Nicely decorated and carvery food with different meat on each evening, there was also a vegetarian option. The building is old but... We stayed 4 nights at the hotel for the Christmas break and I would have to say that my overall impression of the hotel left a lot to be desired. I thought that the food was very basic and the evening entertainment was poor. Considering the amount of money I spent for a 4 night break the £2 per night... More

Stayed for 3 nights on BB basis from 20th. to 23rd. Jan.2012.no-one on reception to greet new guests, but 2 very welcoming open fires in reception area and main lounge. Most guests were just sitting around waiting for check-in time i.e.3pm.We decided to go out and look for a pub lunch, and were very pleased to to see a Weatherspoons almost opposite the... We booked for one night ( Friday ) on a Britannia deal - Dinner, bed and breakfast for two plus a free bottle of wine. At £50 it was amazing value.Checking in was effortless, staff excellent. Room on 3rd floor - spacious, large bathroom, comfortable beds. The main lounge was very welcoming with its open fires. Carvery dinner, choice of... More

This hotel is in desparate need of refurbishment of it's public rooms. There was a perpetual unclean smell. A deep cleaning programme needed here. We stayed for 3 nights between Christmas and New Year, and the place was totally swamped by coach parties. One or two of the reception staff were clearly under stress and tended to treat arriving guests... More

Just returned from a three night stay and must say we had an enjoyable stay as we were a little apprehensive after reading some reviews.we were given a lovely room on the ground floor overlooking lord st. Clean and spacious with a spa bath. Hotel itself grand with welcoming open fires in the main lounge. Staff mainly very helpful. Only... More

My Wife and I recently needed accommodation in Southport as my parents that live locally are now too old to look after visitors. We chose the Prince of Wales as it had a good reputation locally. Upon arrival the reception wasn't as efficient as it might have been but OK, the printer was broken, 1 printer in a hotel this... More
