If you're looking for character then this is a cracker. Set alongside the Dee (30 metres across the lawn from the hotel) it was lovely to wake up to the sound of the river. I see below a criticism of a room. I can only say they were unlucky. Mine was vast with a sitting room large enough to house... More

We stayed here for two nights for our daughter's wedding this weekend (10th December 2011). Excellent service, excellent friendly staff. Our room was spotless. Susan, the Wedding Planner, could not have done better - even somehow managed to organise the snow for the day!!!! Beautiful setting - if you want a romantic wedding The Banchory Lodge is the place. We stayed 1 night whilst attending a family wedding and were quoted £130 instead of £170. To my dismay we had a small room in which the TV was not working, a bulb had blown in the main lights, a pane of glass in the window was cracked and the clock did not work. The bathroom had no shelves and... More

Scottish charm...every room is decorated in a different unique style. Love the traditional accents and that they haven't gone NY modern. Public rooms, stairs could use updating (perhaps new carpeting) but other than that it was a wonderful place to stay. Staff could not have been friendlier. The Lodge is located right on the shores of the river, nearly all... More

We came here to celebrate our anniversay and my birthday, quietly and without any kids. We had a fabulous time, walks along the river, and even the wander round Banchory itself was great. Just what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of home. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a break away... More

Stayed here for a short business trip due to a conference in Aberdeen taking up all hotel rooms. The more time you spend there the nicer you realise this place is. The setting is idillic, full blown Scottish salmon river location and stunning grounds which are amazingly maintained. The hotel itself drips with character from reception to the bedrooms. I... More

A beautiful lodge in the banks of the River Dee. The grounds are beautifully kept, the interior tastefully decorated with antiques. Staff attentive, and charming. Our dinner lasted nearly 4 hours. We relaxed in the lounge while our meal was prepared, & watched salmon jumping in the river Dee during dinner. The choices were varied....5 of us had different meals,... More

The Banchory, in a lovely setting on the shore of the river Dee, could not be better. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the service is friendly. Not to be missed is at least one meal, either in the dining room or in the room adjacent to the bar. The food is simple, and deliciously prepared. The accommodations are... More
