If you love history, this castle built about 1500 is the place to stay. We were warmly greeted by Judy (and her Lurcher Finn) who after showing us our guest rooms served us afternoon tea in front of the fireplace in the "breakfast room". Later on that evening we played cards by candlelight in the same room. We stayed in... More

We had the priviledge of staying staying in this incredibly historic and atmospheric Castle for two nights whilst on a short holiday in North Wales. Anybody with any sense of romance and interest in history should do the same. We were the first guests of the season and were lucky enough to have the house all to ourselves to explore... More

Gwydir Castle has much to recommend it: reasonably priced (we stayed in the £95/night Kings Room), extremely friendly service, packed with history, and a wonderful location in the Conwy Valley minutes from Snowdonia National Park. It's not perfect, and there are probably more comfortable properties in this price range, but its charming enough to have you willing to put up... More

Arriving at the castle we were greeted by Peter who was very welcoming and showed us up to The Kings room for our one nights stay. The room was very spacious with a lovely four poster bed and great views of the garden. When we went down for breakfast the next morning we were greeted by Paddy the housekeeper in... More

My husband and myself have just spent two nights at the enchanting Gwydir Castle. We stayed in the Kings Room, full of (proper) antiques and completely retaining all the original charm and 'shabby chic-ness' that a castle room of that age should do! We had read 'Castles in the Air' prior to our visit and were so pleased to find... More

As many have said, this is not your typically B&B experience. A one night stopover was a perfect stay length for us. We were able to roam the gardens in the evening, and privately tour the castle after breakfast. The antiquity of the King's Room made it a fun stay for a night, but not a place to lounge and... More

Before I write further, I will quote from the book written by one of the (young) owners - Judith and Peter who purchased the almost derelict castle and have undergone a painstaking and historically sympathetic renovation. Castles in the Air - Judy Corbett :: " ... This was to become the philosophy behind our future restoration of the house. Keeping... More

We stayed in the Kings room on a Friday and Saturday night. We were greeted warmly by Paddy, the groundsman, who took us to our room and brought us a tray of tea and biscuits to enjoy. The room was huge with beautiful views from the ancient windows. It is full of antiques and the en suite was a treat... More

We stayed overnight at Gwydir Castle last month. My wife thought it would be cool to stay in one of the most documented haunted castles in Wales since I write ghost books for a living. Our first impression of Gwydir Castle is that it's a beautifully restored castle and gardens and Judy and Peter did a fantastic job of fixing... More

We were treated to an overnight stay in this beautiful castle as an anniversary present from our two son's. All I can say is what a fantastic place and setting made even better by the service we were given whilst there. Reading the history on how they brought the castle back to what it is today is a testament to... More
