“Beautiful colonial hotel in a little known town not far from Puerto Vallarta.”

Mascota is a lovely little town nestled in a valley not far East from Puerto Vallarta. It is worth a visit. If you go there, make sure to see the anthropological museum at the Casa de Cultura - a couple of blocks from the plaza. The staff at Meson de Santa Elena were excellent and made our stay there wonderful. We had originally booked a large downstairs room with high ceilings, but changed to an upstairs room with a sunny and warm balcony. The breakfasts are wonderful, cooked to order and tasty. this was a comfortable spot, an old colonial villa, open-air courtyards and nice touches throughout.
