We were on a leisurely drive to Cannes, and Chalon-en-Champagne made sense for the first night, nice hotel with good service from the staff, central location, with some off-street parking. Rooms just a little dated, but clean with all the services, however, disappointed with the cost of breakfast, that was only a basic continental/buffet selection.
