We hadn't planned on our stay at the Ibis in Arras. Well' to be honest we had planned on flying into London, but plans changed at the last minute and we landed in Paris. This is a good basic hotel, typical of the smaller Ibis. The rooms and amentities are basic but clean and comfortable. There is no restaurant but there is a wide ranger of eateries within easy walking distance and there is a limeted range of hot and cold food available on the premises. Myself and my wife stayed in Arras chiefly to visit the Christmas Market and then to visit a family WW1 grave nearby at Ficheaux. We arrived Sunday pm, the market starts at 12pm until 8pm. There are 60 stalls in wooden chalets with carols and Xmas trees everywhere, the main Square Place de Heroes is taken over by the market.... more
