My wife and I stayed here for two nights last week and I could not praise it high enough. We arrived on the sunday night and had a very nice meal and a few drinks. We stayed over on the Sunday night and the owners gave us a lift to Bakewell in the morning, allowing us to leave our car... More

Walked from our cottage in Hope for dinner at the Cheshire Cheese. It's a quaint and quirky pub with plenty to interest the visitor. We had a full 3 course meal which was extremely enjoyable. We can't fault any of the courses and this was definatley not run of the mill pub food. The staff were very friendly and provided... More

Excellent experience. We needed to be in the area for the long weekend and found accommodation at The Cheshire Cheese Inn, Edale Road, Hope. A pleasant email when we arrived late in the evening. Comfortable, spacious room with easy access to the back garden. Three good English Breakfasts. Sadly we did not eat in but looked good.

This is truly one of the best pubs I have eaten in. The food menu is great and suited well towards vegetarians. It is not snooty and very down to earth. The pub was full and the fire was going so it created a perfect atmosphere. The food was very tasty and we left very satisfied. I remembered this pub... More

A nice authentic country pub, decent food, log fires and good beer. Tucked away on the edge of a nice village in the peak district. Although the menu isn't massive it had everything you would want in a pub. Excellent real ales. What more could you want!

We were recommended to have dinner here after a days walking. Place was packed, should have booked a table but they squeezed us in (reflection of their customer service attitude), log fires and warm atmosphere just right after a day on the hills. Our food was delicious, well portioned, we were hungry. Odd moment when I requested WiFi code, I... More

No more than average pub food. Had battered tempura prawns as starter (100% from a packet) , edible but nothing special. Had steak for main which was nicely cooked and came with a kilo of big fat chips. Partner had the home made lasagna which was not great but probably didn't contain horse which is a bonus. Beer was good.... More

My wife and I recently stayed at 'the Cheshire' for a couple of nights as we'd promised ourselves a few years back we'd return. After a day's walking, this pub is the perfect place to spend a winters evening. With both an open fire and a wood burner heating the place. Lovely, quaint and snug. The bar staff are very... More

This was the second time that we had stayed here, we got a last minute booking for a Saturday night. The pub was busy and with roaring log fires it was a great atmosphere. The food yet again was excellent! And the beer well kept. We had a small bunk bed room for 3 of us which had plenty of... More

My husband, his brother, their parents and I stopped off at The Cheshire Cheese for one night on our way through further into Derbyshire. We were greeted with a welcoming frontage, roaring fire within, real ales and quaint traditional wooden pub chairs and tables. The staff were warm and chatty and we drank all afternoon in the bar before eating... More
