A delay getting our rental car in Dublin caused us to miss the first B&B we had booked in Skibbereen. After a night in a downtown Cork chain hotel, we made our way to Dingle. What a delight to be welcomed by Captain Jim Milhench and shown the lovely and comfortable Finad suite! The lower section is a sitting area... More

The Captain’s House was more than we expected!!! The apartment style room was perfect and went above our expectations. The breakfast accommodations were provided in your room/apartment. We really liked this because it gave us the casual time in the morning to plan and prepare for the day of touring while sipping coffee in our p.js. A lovely variety of... More

Dingle was our lay-over stop on a two-week whirwind tour of the entire Island, and we enjoyed three nights in the "Fanad" Suite at the Captain's House. Mary is a wonder with useful information and gentle suggestions for the uninitiated, and her delightful baked goods make for a wonderful treat in the mornings. The bedroom loft up a spiral staircase... More

At a recent stay, while comfortable, it was very musty smelling so much that one of us could not stay in the apartment. Mary did provide another small room for her on an upper floor that was sufficient. The breakfast is en suite with a variety of choices to prepare. The en suite washer/dryer combo was a welcome plus. There... More

We stayed here unfortunately 1 night due to rental car trouble on the way from Kilkenney to Dingle. Both Mary and Jim were very accommodating with our trouble. Once arriving in Dingle we were saddened that our time in Dingle was decreased because it's beautiful location. The rooms were very comfortable, the bed was actually VERY comfortable. My husband and... More

We just spent two nights at the Captain's House, in what sounds like the same efficiency unit others have mentioned. Mary and Jim are very good people, but they now seem to have other priorities which are entirely appropriate and understandable. My advice is to look closely at what you see and put more credence on the more recent reviews.... More

We were very excited to visit the Capitain's House. We had read good things about it in Frommer's. We had a two-story room - the first level had a kitchenette, a sitting area, and a bathroom, and up a spiral staircase was a bedroom. The kitchenette area had a washer/dryer, which was helpful. We were somewhat surprised to learn that... More

Accommodation was excellent but there circumstances have changed and are unable to supply breakfast. The prices were definitely higher than other B&B's we stayed in Ireland which provided more.

Because we stayed here in November, we were offered (and agreed to use) one of the self-catering suites - it was very cozy and warm, even in the midst of overnight gales - the Milhenches were very accommodating, and provided a continental breakfast as part of the arrangement - Mrs. Milhench checked in on us every day - place was very... ...and this is saying a lot since this was our first trip to the homeland of some of our ancestors. Mary and Jim Milhench made us feel immediately at home in our very well equipped efficiency apartment. The private deck, with its near views of the town and far views of neighboring hillside, was a very special place to enjoy... More
