Stumbled upon here on St.Patricks Day just before the parade kicked off and were lucky enough tp get a seat by the large open fire. The food served in the bar was delicious and the service friendly and attentive. The whole town seemed to gather around the hotel before the parade commenced which only added to the atmosphere.Such a beautiful location right... This hotel is very old world and a million miles from the new modern hotels that are everywhere in ireland now. Its just fine, no pretense at all, but a good stop off all the same. the village is lovely with smashing pubs and lovely walks nearby. everything here goes at a slower pace and the golden pheasant coffee shop... My partner and three of my sisters stayed here overnight while touring Ireland and were very glad we did. The food was wonderful--best brown bread we had the whole trip--and the setting was beautiful. Staff were just terrific, too (shout-out to Jerry). Our room had a stunning view and tons of dresser drawers. This would be a great place to... More

We (myself, my girlfriend, my father and my sister) made a visit to the North of Ireland but decided to make a circle of our journey and come south, based on a recommendation.. This southern part of Ireland (be sure to make a quick visit to nearby Kinsale) was quite a welcomed, restful retreat for us. This hotel was a... More

I wondered (just a little bit nervously) about lunch which I had booked here for my 'picky' dad and myself. As we drove to our parking space at the front of the hotel - Fawlty Towers briefly crossed my mind. The building itself could do with a little TLC (mind you - I just said a little), and for starters... More

Stayed for one night with my wife as we were dining out locally and needed somewhere close to stay overnight. This hotel reflects good value for the money at €90 for a double room and breakfast. We found the breakfast to be good and as there were only a small number of guests at this time of year, service was... More

The small village of Courtmacsherry ('a drinking village with a fishing problem' as it jokes) enjoys one of the prettiest locations in Ireland. Overlooking a long estuary bursting with bass, bobbing with yachts, fringed with green fields and golden beaches, it must be divine on sunny days. (On my visit, September 4, it was 12 degrees under a solid grey... More
