Not a bad place to stay while in Lombok. I stayed here in October 2012 for 2 weeks and had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were nice, beds were somewhat comfy, and free breakfast is included. There were 3 of us in our room which made the cost $5.66USD per person per night!!! Best part about this hotel is... More

Friendly hotel (not B&B) reasonably central in Kuta. Variety of rooms and villas from simple cold water to huge villas located in a large garden with a small pool. You get what you pay for, so don't complain if you took the cheap room and didn't get hot water... Upkeep, as almost everywhere in Asia, is lacking, but having said... More

We stayed there for three nights. We got a great price: 125 000 Rps/night. The staff was nice but didn't overdo it either... The room was very clean and the bathroom too BUT everything is getting a bit old, the bed was not very comfy. We got kid's sheets! Great room for when you are on a budget though GREAT... More

We stayed for 3 nights at Matahari Inn in Kuta, Lombok, and overall thought it was a good value. Although our guidebook said the Balinese decorations were overdone at this place, we actually liked it (though maybe it was also because it was in such stark contrast to Sumatra, from where we had just been traveling before arriving in Lombok).... I have been travelling in Asia for over thirty years and this has got to be the worst room I have ever stayed in. Because of the extreme bad weather in the Lombok Strait, we were forced to stayed near the new airport in Lombok for one night, The closest accommodation is in Kuta Beach, We tried many hotels and... This was once a very grand hotel with beautiful grounds, random art objects strewn around, a nice pool and pretty rooms, some with lovely decorations. It is also somewhat decrepit, in a romantic rather than a gross way. Our ceiling fan had lost most of its paint and was covered in some kind of growth, the sheets and towels were... More

A 'surfing' destination that sucks. I arrived to an aggressive, unhelpful set of staff. The rooms were damp, uncomfortable, nothing worked, including the toilet. The entire complex is shabby and run down, the staff were untrustworthy, and the town itself is shameful. I visited Kuta Lombok in 1997, and the place is now a hell hole compared. It has been... Well, the Matahari has taken a nose dive since 2008, along with the rest of Kuta Lombok. The guys here know it's only a matter of time before the village is bulldozed to make way for a new resort complex, and they haven't done even the most basic maintenance on the place in years. We chose to stay here on... More

We turned up out of the blue and the place seemed quiet but we immediately warmed to the Manager, Ian, who offered us his "Honeymoon Suite" at no extra cost as we looked around deciding whether to stay or not. The Suite was a corker for about £17 per night including breakfast - it had a few very minor failings... More
