My colleague and I stayed here for one night - at check in we were told the resteraunt was closed due to an earlier incident in the day ! The room itself was a double double superior which was nice and big with two double beds, mine was fine but my colleagues was sagging at the bottom, but overall we... More

A bit of a mixed bag - lots of good points including spacious rooms, great views, location and staff friendliness. The rooms are very big and decor quite attractive but some of the communal areas are a bit outdated and showing their age. On the positive side we found the spot perfect for visiting Sunderland and within walking distance for... More

You tend to know what you re getting with a chain hotel, this is no exception. It is an ugly building, like a few others on what is a lovely bit of coast. However, inside it I fine, and the staff are great. My room, overlooking the beach was massive. It was spotless too. It is a really good option... More

Marriott suited the bill for our weekend break in the North East. Booked one of the hotel's weekend packages with spacious sea view king room with breakfast included. As previous reviewer stated nothing special from the front but private free car park. Lovely interior with friendly reception staff and easy access to bar / restaurant etc. Spacious sea front room... Immediately I was not impressed with the exterior, however this was short lived due to the warm welcome from the receptionist in the delightful surroundings of the interior of the hotel. From our welcome to leaving the hotel my family and I were treated exceptionally well by all staff. They were friendly, courteous, extremely civil and couldn't possibly do enough... More

Newly refurbished and in excellent location. We had a beautiful deluxe room with a wonderful sea view over Seaburn beach. Gloriously sunny day as well. Receptionist lovely, extremely friendly and helpful, all staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. Room was huge with separate bedroom area plenty of storage space and ensuite with bath and shower. We are regulars at... More

I wasn't expecting much of this hotel, but it surprised me in a good way! Basically the rooms were a lot bigger than I expected, I don't think I was in a special room or anything but it was what other hotels would call a suite with a separate TV/sofa area. The bed was comfy too. The rooms are on... More

It is great to read your review and I am pleased your stay at the hotel surprised you in a good way. I do apologise for the slow service in the restaurant and also that the heating in the restaurant was unbearable. Due to the recent bitter cold weather, the heating had been turned on to run constantly throughout the... More

Joined hubby on his business trip. Lovely hotel right along sea front. Unfortunately we didn't get a room with a sea view, however the room was very nice and big. Bed was extremely comfy All amenities - tea/coffee maker/safe/trouser press/hair dryer and tv. Bathroom was big, nicely tiled and had separate shower. Plenty of hot water too and of course... More
