stayed here for 9 days, because the main hotel we booked had some problems so they put me and my mum in here. (sister hotel). awful. they said they where fully booked, but we where the only guests staying there. not a soul around. weird. Plus the reception is not located on the grounds, there is nothing there. around the pool had no sun loungers or seating. Beds are VERY HARD to sleep on. TV channels all in Portuguese. no WIFI. no anything. Smelly drains too. Yuck!. Very quiet area.

If you are looking for a inexpensive holiday this is for you. The rooms are tired but spotlessly clean, the rooms are light and airy plenty of room, and lovely outlook from the balcony. The against was no WiFi and tv in Portugese, but what can you expect for the money? We stayed in a guest house in Cornwall for one night for what we paid for a week here. You can walk into Vilamoura in about 20mins. Could be cold in the winter as no heating.

We were a family group of 10, aged between 1 and 86 and have just returned from this villa. We arrived quite late at night but were greeted by the villa manager Benita, who let us in and gave us a tour of the villa. The villa is truly amazing. It is so big and spacious and stunning. The villa itself is very well equipped with plenty of cups/plates/chairs/seating areas/glasses etc. Just a few more mugs would have been nice. The villa is so spacious we had plenty of room for everybody without feeling cramped. There was one room on the ground floor which had a little section to it where they had put a cot and was a perfect room for my sister to have her 2 young children in with her. If I had to find a negative, which is hard, it would have to be what is described as the kids swimming pool. It is smaller in size than the main pool, but it is still very deep, so not really suitable for young children who are non swimmers. Also the 15 minute walk to the town as described wasn't suitable for us. We attempted it one evening but it is a very sandy track you have to follow, which included quite a steep slope and what felt like a walk through a field. We took a pushchair and this was not possible to do with a pushchair, it was also getting dark so headed back when we spotted a house, but not sure which part of town we would have arrived in, if we had carried on through the field. The villa manager was also very helpful and was easily contactable and sorted out our queries very quickly for us. Loved this villa and we would go back.

We have just returned from these apartments and could not fault them one bit!! Clean spacious and has all the amenities you need!! The keys would have been a problem if we had not read reviews but we found in no time!! The only one thing were annoyed at was the miserable receptionist behind the desk where you collect your keys !! She was not very helpful !! We took it on our selves to find our own way around and once we got our bearings the place was perfect!! 5 euro taxi home and a 25 minute walk in to town or 30 minutes to Quarteria, where the sunbeds and beach are more than half the price!!! Not much more in Taxi and food good if not better there than Villamoura!! The pool was perfect and the gardens spotless!! Fresh towels and rooms cleaned every 2 days!! Will definitely return to these apartments and wished we could afford to buy one!! X

There was nobody there to ask where to get the keys or even how to get into the complex. Luckily we spotted a cleaner who was very helpful and took us to reception. In case you are not so lucky, with apartments to your left, follow the road around to your left, a couple of minutes walk. You will come to a green and yellow building where you will find reception as well as Parky's Bar and Floyyds restaurant. There are also a couple more bars and shops. The staff in parkys are friendly and it is reasonably priced. The apartments are quite outdated but are comfortable and clean. Cleaners only come in every other day with fresh towels and bedding which might not suit everyone but we didn't have a problem with that. We had a studio apartment which had one bedroom with twin beds and ample wardrobe space. A lounge/dining area with two sofas with single beds underneath, a table and four chairs a small portable tv with lots of english channels if needed. The kitchen had a gas cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge freezer. There was also an iron but no board. All rooms have a balcony with a view of the small pool and well kept gardens. We went in September and it was so quiet it felt like our own personal pool and garden. No sunbeds though and no bar which we thought would bother us but didn't.It is a very quiet area but only about a twenty minute walk to vilamoura Marina where there are lots of bars, restaurants and shops. On the whole we found the Solar Das Palmeiras good value for money and if we go back to vilamoura I would be happy to stay there again

This hotel looks really nice on the pictures but dont make the same mistake me and my girlfriend did! It's a nice place from the outside but the room we stayed in (107) was discusting inside. We arrived at the hotel to check in at about 1.50pm and are room was due to be ready at 2.00pm but this wasnt the case as we had to wait till 3.00pm before we could go to are room. The floor was dirty as tho it hadnt been mopped after the previous people, the furniture was dusty, the taps had mould on them, the bath had black stains in it, the floor tiles were damages, the bathroom mirror was covered with black dots, the light fitting was broken, there were lamp shades missing, the walls were dirty, there was a lack of kitchen equipment, only 2 hobs in the kitchen to do all cooking, we had to ask at reception for a kettle because the room was not equiped with 1, kitchen and bathroom cupboards were dusty and stained, the hot water taps got very hot very quick without warning signs and caused me and my girlfriend to burn are hands and last of all there are no sun loungers. When we arrived and saw the state of are hotel room we went to recpetion to complain about it and we were told that the director would come to see the room and hopefully help to resolve the situation but he/she did not show so we went down once more to complain and we were told that the director will be coming to see the room but for the 2nd time he/she did not show. We found this just rude and very dissapointing. They even managed to mess up are airport transfer when we were leaving as we booked it from the hotel and they told the driver that we would be at the reception which is about a 5 min walk away. I write this to make you all aware of how BAD this hotel is. DO NOT STAY HERE AND IF YOU HAVE ALREADY BOOKED THEN CANCEL AND PAY A LITTLE EXTRA AND STAY SOMEWHERE NICE!

Response from TeeTimes, Manager at Solar das Palmeiras
Responded Mar 4, 2010
Dear Sir, we regret the negative experience gained in these holidays, and we present our sincerest apologies.  Regarding the delay at check-in, is due to the fact that in high season the hours may extend up to 4pm due to the high turnover of guests. Check-out until 12am and check-in from 2pm.  These apartments are privately owned, so, there are some discrepancies in terms of decoration, and facilities.  As soon as our manager was aware of your complain, immediately tried to relocate you to an alternative accommodation but without success because the hotel was fully booked.  Your comment have been taken into serious consideration and the apartment in question has been removed from our accommodation offers. The owner must carry out some improvements for the apartment to be available again.  We hope to keep you as customers, because, as you can see, in many online reviews from other guests on the same complex , was an “one in a life time” problem.  We want to guarantee all future guests that all others apartments allocated for holidays are in perfect conditions and suitable for relaxing and pleasant holidays. - money back guaranteed.
