Spent a night here mid Jan,sunny and sub zero outside.,cosy and friendly inside. Room modern and comfy nice and warm, well stocked drinks tray, good products in bathroom. Evening meal very good, FANTASTIC fish and chips. Breakfast really good too. What makes this place stand out though is the character of the building, and the friendly staff. Oh, and the... More

We recently visited Britannia Inn, but didn't get a chance to eat there. We sat a table, but when the waiter finally arrived, she told us that they need the table to prepare it for breakfast for the next day, so we have to move (why wouldn't they prepare those tables after the guest leave is beyond me). There were... More

Stayed at the Langdale Estate this week in our time-share, and went to the Britannia for an evening meal on the Tuesday. This is a lovely, atmospheric inn, in a pretty village just a short drive from Ambleside, but a 5 minute walk from our accomodation. It was a very cold night, and the several log fires provided a cosy... More

Thank you very much! We think the Brit has a special atmosphere in the winter, you cant beat a coal fire! We hope you can join us in summer for a pint and some sea bass on the patio. Cheers from the Brit staff More

Enjoyed a very pleasant two night break as a low-season treat. Have stayed at the historic Britannia before, but never at such a bargain price, hence the impulsive booking. Highly recommend you check out their low season prices, as this Inn is worthy even at their high season prices. Good they can offer free private parking which is located adjacent... More

A good 3 days. Excellent food, lovely warm, cosy atmosphere, great beer and friendly staff. Weather a little damp, but a great base from which to visit the south lakes. Will be going back. More

My family and I (3 generations - grandparents, parents and children from Devon) have been eating at the Britannia for many years whilst holidaying at Langdale and we have never been disappointed. For the first time this year we had Christmas lunch here and it was superb. All the staff at the Britannia are very friendly and go out of... More

This place is lovely. We have been before but this was the first time we have stayed. The restaurant served very nice food which was reasonably priced ( The lakes do tend to be a little expensive ) . The breakfasts were really great with good quality ingredients, bacon, sausage , egg etc. I would also say that the place... More

We stayed at the Britannia Inn, Langdale a couple of weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. It's a small, hotel in the middle of a tiny village. It has a small, cosy bar with a real fire, and a restaurant. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and considering we went mid-week in the middle of November, it was really... More

We've visited The Britannia on a few occasions in the past but never actually stayed there. This time we stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. We had the room with the separate bathroom and whilst not ideal it was spotlessly clean. That said , the room was of a good size and very comfortable. The breakfast is... More

Thank you so much for the review. Room 3 in which you stayed is not en-suite but it does have the only bath in the hotel! So its sort of a double edged sword really.... Glad to hear you enjoyed the beer. Thanks again all the Brit staff. More
