We've stayed at University House before and enjoy the setting (within the ANU campus) and the classical 1950s ambience. We had a family room (Room 201), which included a small kitchen and separate lounge, set off from the main quadrangle or cloister. The room was comfortable but perhaps it would be time for carpets and soft furnishings to be replaced.... More

I stayed one night recently for a conference meeting at the University. The room was lovely and roomy and clean. The bathroom had been renovated, with a stone benchtop and very clean shower. The only problem was the lack of hot water and all the lightbulbs had blown in the bedroom. As previous posters have said, it does feel a... More

The hotel was formerly a residence for graduate students, and the rooms reflect that, with large living room (with desk!) and balcony as well as bedroom. Restaurant and cafe and good conference facilities. Beautiful location close to transport. Only drawback is no lifts (but only 3 floots), so if stairs are not possible, request ground room floor.

This was our second stay at UniHouse. The rooms are clean, warm and have a wonderful 1930s feel about them. The central courtyard is very picturesque especially with Autumn colours. We took the Autumn package that included dinner and breakfast and it was excellent value. We will definitely be staying again.

Stayed at University House recently and was lucky enough to catch the brilliant autumn colours in Canberra. The rooms in University House Hotel are really larger and more comfortable versions of typical student accommodation at university. I believe the Hotel used to be accommodation for postgraduate students at one point, before it was opened up to the public. Absolutely no... More

We've stayed here twice, on both occasions in a twin room (no, the beds can't be pushed together) and planned to stay again for three nights at the end of last week. What I like about University House is the campus feel, the classic 1950s design and the 30-40 minute walk along the shores of Lake Burley Griffin to the... More

I stayed here for two nights. It was a dated and basic room but it was clean and ideally placed for me as was campus-based for the week. I was surprised there was a minibar in the room and there was no menu for it but I did grab a beer and the price was standard $6.50 which was good... More

I stayed at the University House two years ago. What I remember is the green all around you ... it is obvious you are on a campus. The rooms are OK. Don't expect the same equipment as your regular hotel. Eveything is there, it all works sufficient, plenty of space .... but still with a slight 'spartanic' feel. And for... More

I have stayed at University House many times. It is a beautiful building widely recognised for its architectural and historical significance. Many of the rooms surround a large courtyard with tall trees. The House is on the Australian National University campus and close to Canberra's CBD. There is usually plenty of parking space but large functions can result in visitors... More
