Booked this hotel as a mystery booking. Was given several comments from people about "ooh, good hotel" "5 star, equal to more well known others in same area". Its not, on either count. A flashy foyer and smiling staff do not a 5 star hotel make. We were given a handicapped equipped room, not surprising really, it being a mystery... more

great for tourists as it is amazingly close to both circular quay and darling harbour. Very comfortable with all the 5 star amenities that can make a trip special. The only fault we could find was very low water pressure in all the taps...not sure if they are trying to be environmentally friendly. more

i've stayed in this restaurant twice and quite simply i loved it.. Pro's: - the location.. its only a 10 mins walk to the darling harbour and also to sydney harbour bridge.. - very clean rooms and very nice pool side (with spa and sauna facilitesi).. I wouldn't classify this hotel 5 star but it's clean and well situated. It's within walking distance to all the major attractions, including the Rocks (~ 5 minutes), Circular Quay (~10 minutes) and Darling Harbour (~ 20 minutes). I would stay here again. more

The Amora is typical of the 5-star 'brass and marble' hotels that are around Sydney. It is very conveniently located about 10 minutes walk north to reach the Opera House and Gardens and 20 minutes walk south-west to reach Darling Harbour (the two main tourist areas). We stayed on a Saturday night to attend a concert at the Opera House and had a thoroughly great time. Excellent hotel. Modern tasteful decore with all the amenities that one could want. We stayed for one night at the Amora. It's a nice location because it was reasonably close to the shops and restaurants, you could walk to the harbour, and just around the corner from Wynyard station. This is only my third weekend trip to Sydney so I must confess I am not terribly familiar with all the other hotels, but... more

Walking distance to Sydney City Centre, spitting distance to the Rocks, got it cheap through lastminute.com. Great rooms, good service. Loved it. I didn't eat at the restaurant so can't rate it - there's plenty of eating houses around - including a ramen noodle cafe that I ate at. more

Everything, except the annoying key-card lift and room entry system (we needed a replacement card almost every day) was fine - it's a typical big hotel in a large city - not five-star, but pleasant enough.
