Thornbury House is a little different from most bed and breakfasts as you have your room and there is a room ( and garden) downstairs for breakfast ( and for use until around 5 or so). However, the room is a nice size and the bathroom is also a good size. Everything was spotless. Because we stayed for two nights,... More

Although it will take you a while to find it it is the perfect Bed & Breakfast for your stay in central Brisbane! Perfect and quiet rooms, friendly host, very good breakfast (brekky) and at a walking distance to downtown Brisbane. This hotel is also very close to Brisbane' Chinatown which offers a lot of very nice looking restaurants.

This hotel has nicely decorated, comfortable rooms 10 mins walk from the CBD. The problem is not the accommodation but the staff. As others have mentioned and the hotel is very clear about, the reception is not attended out of hours. This would be fine except that it is not really attended in hours either! We were jetlagged so slept... More

Thankyou for taking your time to review our property. I would however like to clarify a few of the points that you have brought up. Reception hours are 9am-12noon & 2pm-5.00pm, but as we explain in our compendium these hours are subject to change. As this is a small property we are unable to provide staff on call. The reception... More

As other reviews testify, this is a great traditional Queensland house located within walking distance of all attractions in Brisbane. The rooms are spacious and extremely well presented. The breakfasts are fantastic, much more than a simple continental breakfast affair. The highlight of the stay was the high quality service from Marshall who gave advice on places to eat, walking... This is a lovely old wooden Queensland house converted into a boutique style guest house. Rates are very reasonable and its nearness to the CBD makes it an ideal base for enjoying the many attractions in the Brisbane area. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a large double bed and a bathroom with a small bath. The staff... More

We stayed in one of the double rooms downstairs as attic suit was booked out but it was a very nice room. Everything is kept so well and clean would definitely stay there again. Like in other reviews I agree it is an old traditional house with timber flooring so sound like footsteps and loud phone call conversations carry easily.... More

We stayed here recently and went to the gallerys and Riverfire fireworks. Nice and tidy place, comfortable rooms and facilities. Great rate for the weekend. Amazing to have a place so close to the CBD that felt like a home. We would stay here again.

We found this place after it being recommended in The Lonely Planet book. What a cute little gem it is! We were fortunate to stay in the attic room and it was brilliant. The hosts run it very well and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Breakfast was very fresh, plentiful with lots and variety... More

My 5th stay at One Thornbury. We love the place. This cute Queensland style cottage has been renovated in a non-fussy, contemporary boutique style. A fantastic private courtyard area for guests, a perfect place to have a glass of wine before heading out to see the restaurants and night life Fortitude Valley has to offer (only a 5 minute walk).... In a quiet area but within easy walking distance of the lively eateries of Chinatown, this traditional wooden house has an unassuming appearance, but as soon as you enter a surprise is in store. Polished wooden floors, characterful decor and a warm welcome awaits you. We were particularly appreciative the helpfulness of the management on our departure day. Because we... More
