Stayed in an underground romm, excellent value, rate included full breakfast. Also had dinner here food was OK. Explored the underground exhibits & had a drink in the underground bar. Staff helpful & friendly which could be due to new management. Would definitely recommend.

We chose an above ground room and were very happy with that, as we got to experience the underground cafe, shops, and exhibits as well. Our room was spacious, and the bed comfortable. It was also free of FLIES, which were a real annoyance elsewhere. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of all the town shops. We found... More

We didnt stay here but heard that they had the only underground bar in town so on a 40+ degree late afternoon after visiting all the opal shops in town, a stop here seemed like a good idea. The bar is great and this could be a top attraction except for the staff. They treated us like we were inconveniencing... More

In the slow season definitely check this place out! Amazing underground rooms at $50pppn. In the slow season. Check in and go for a walk round central Coober Pedy at sunset - you will not find better than this for a Central Australian stopover! Actually a great stopover dreamed up by one bloke - and good for him.

I read all the reviews before travel. I was a little concerned after reading some bad reviews. I am 100% convinced that any negative reviews are from other hotels in the areas or American travellers (who are well known for arrogant attitudes- bad attitudes does not mix with our aussie laid back style) The reviews scared me off the hotel.... For Coober Pedy, this place was clean, spacious and comfortable. On arriving the staff member at reception was polite but not willing to make an effort to assist with a query concerning a glitch with the booking (Wotif booked us on the next day). The rooms surrounding the parking lot appeared to be cut into the side of the hill... More

We spent three nights is an underground room. While the temperature was nice and cool, the room was dated. The service around the hotel was completely lacking and we had surly waiters and bar staff. Breakfast was mostly a joke, overpriced and very slow. Stay away from the tours they offer, many other companies in town do better tours for... More

We booked an underground room, as I have stayed at other underground places before & love the temp and quietness. This room however was at ground level and seemed to be dug out of the side of a hill which was not the same. Once through the door I cold have been in any 3 star motel room in the... More

I spent 3 nights in an underground room here last week. The rooms are very dark and very quiet and just the best place to be in 40C heat. They have all of the expected appointments of a good hotel, with nice bathrooms and quality toiletries supplied. The staff are very friendly and helpful, housekeeping standards are excellent and generous... More

We stayed in the underground motel for three nights en route to Uluru. First impressions were not good as we bumped in over a potholed driveway. from the outward appearance I don't think maintenance is a big issue here. Reception were very friendly and pretty quickly we were escorted to a very spacious underground room. The beds were huge and... More
