This backpackers was one of the best places that I have stayed in New Zealand. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and large and the house itself is beautifully decorated and feels like a real home. Kitchen facilities are excellent. It's in a really nice location only minutes from the coastal walk and from the town... More

The owner Janine has put her heart and soul into creating a friendly, welcoming and immaculate environment for her guests. We were shown to a beautiful spacious bedroom upstairs with comfortable, warm bed, wooden floors, interesting art work on the walls and efficient heating if needed. Next to our room was a fabulous huge toilet and shower. We were offered... More

Our initial impressions were distinctly unfavourable; we had been told over the phone that the price for a double room was $70 per night. However, when we arrived, the receptionist told us that the cost was actually $78, and he implied that we must have got the prices wrong, as it had not been updated on the website. To make... More

I would agree with most of the comments about Seaspray House. It is 15 minuteswalk along the lovely coastal path into town. It's a quiet location. It's clean and fresh decor. We had room 6 and it did have a mattress that slumped in and no bedside light (plugpoints at the other side of the room). The guy who was... More

This little place is a short walk from toen with really nice rooms and is peaceful and quiet - away from the rush of the backpackers in town. Friendly staff, helpful with local area and very nice clean facilities with a huge kitchen and sitting area - thoroughly recommend - even close to a walk all the way along the... More

I can safely say having been traveling New Zealand for just under a year and staying in more BBH hostels than i can remember that Seaspray house is one of the best. It has a quiet but social atmosphere, is centrally located, has an incredibly well equipped kitchen, immaculate bathrooms of which there are three (not one as stated by... More

We spent 2 nights at the Seaspray Hotel in Weymouth and on arrival was asked if we wanted a cup of tea and did we need help with luggage. Diane and Paul went out of their way to make us feel like friends rather than guests. We had a fantastic view from our room and it was spotlessly clean and... More

We have stayed in hostels all over NZ and this is by far one of our favorites. Janine does a fantastic job maintaining a welcoming and spotless space. The hostel is in a beautiful, two-story house with hard-wood floors (you have to take your shoes off!) and tons of light throughout. Thanks to plenty of soundproofing doors, noise from common... Just came back from a weekend trip to New Plymouth. Stayed at Seaspray House. Booked the double bed room, which cost NZD80 for the two of us. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The whole place was spacious and clean. It felt "home-y". The coastal walkway was located less than 5 minutes away. If you walked along the coastal walk, town... More

This hostel is lovely, very clean, spacious and well maintained. Our twin room was massive, each bed seperated by a wall to make almost 2 seperate rooms. The bathrooms were outstanding, best showers we have used in ages. Staff very helpful and information was provided about what to do in area, with great recommendations that we didn't even get from...
