I stayed at Gourmet Stay for a few days' holiday. Overall it was a good stay but it's a bit different. The staff were friendly and unobtrusive, and the cafe downstairs was excellent (have the mushrooms, they're divine). My room was on the small side (think London dimensions) and would have been cramped for two people, plus it was almost... More

Our family stayed at Gourmet Stay recently. We booked over the net. Their systems were competant and on arrival we were given a door keycard and brief explainations about the way the place operates and the facilities and shown to our room. It is quite a funky wee place in an out of the way so quiet but close to... More

Very tastefully renovated rooms, very helpful staff, great location near town. My congratulations to the owners - a very dedicated and helpful couple! By definiton the loctation is in a quiet part of town - so you should have no problem catching a good nights sleep! If not: there is free Wifi available in the room ;-) The ground level... More

We were booked into Gourmet Stay by the couple whose wedding we were attending that weekend. They booked a group of friends and family from round NZ and Australia into this hotel so we could all be in one place. We found the hotel was noisey (you could hear doors baning, toilets flushing, people in the next rooms talking). It... More

Great hotel in a great city, and "gourmet" indeed - full of restaurant recommendations and within a short walking distance of plenty of Wellington's best coffee and food places. Fantastic location, we walked pretty much everywhere. Central yet very quiet at night. We loved this hotel so much that we stayed there twice - once on our way to the... More

this is a fantastic little boutique hotel. the owners are wonderful, warm and friendly and extremely accommodating, doing everything they can to make you feel right at home. the rooms are a nice size and very clean; the shared bathrooms are large and luxurious, and the cafe is absolutely delicious. as the name suggests, there is also a whole blackboard... I would highly recommend this beautiful boutique hotel to stay in. From the minute we arrived we felt like we were at home. The staff and just so welcoming. Our room was not overly large but was certainly clean and comfortable for the price. Our bathroom facilities were just a step across from our room and the only negative is... More

We can't be sure that all rooms have the same level of equipment, but we were staying in nr 1. which is exclusive one with private open deck and hot tube. This was just perfect to get some relaxation after transfers and day-long city-trip. The HOT breakfast served in the Frederick Cafe downstairs was the best breakfast we had during... More

After our first experience at Gourmet Stay, Mark (one of the owners) emailed us and offered us a free night of accommodation as a way of showing us what we experienced was not the norm, etc. We took Mark up on this a couple of weeks ago when we were back in Wellington and our stay was quite wonderful- the...
