The Victoria Railway Hotel is the best place to stay in Invercargill as the town is not inspiring. Interesting building in a sea of 1960's concrete. The owners were very friendly and helpful during our one night stopover. More

We stayed for 3 nights with three other couples. This is a typical old style hotel with all the charm and wear and tear that old pubs have. We found each of our rooms differently decorated with varying amounts of style. I would advise to specifically ask for the type of room you would like. We had a very large... More

The service was great, the rooms very nicely appointed (Definitely go for the upstairs suites!), and warm and comfortable - and the atmosphere was great. Breakfast was generous, and we felt very 'victorian' in the surroundings and setting. (Now, about the weather ... !) More

Our hosts were excellent and looked after our every need. The location is central, easy to find and easy to park the car nearby. The room was good but as the hotel was full we did not have an en-suite but the price reflected this. Recommended More

This hotel had a great personal feel to it thanks to the very friendly hosts. There was plenty of information on the hotels history. The rooms (VIP room) were well appointed with plenty of space, beautiful leather armchairs and a large bathroom. Peter even gave us a hand up two flights of stairs with all our luggage. There was a... More

We arrived in Invercargill late afternoon and checked in to the hotel. Rose and Peter were very welcoming and showed us round and gave us tips on where to eat. We were heading to the rugby the next night and Peter very kindly gave us a lift to the stadium and back again. The hotel is a short walk to... More

The service was exceptional. A welcoming fire in the bar and hosts Rose and Peter going the extra mile to ensure their guests were made welcome. I will certainly stay at the Victoria Railway Hotel on my next visit to Invercargill. More

We stayed a couple of nights in Invercargill and booked in at the Victoria Railway Hotel. The parking was in a council carpark next door. I was wondering if it was secure but when we saw it, all our worries vanished. The carpark is completely enclosed and the door is shut at night. No one can get in without a... More

My wife and I stayed for two nights and just loved the place, we are moteliers and couldn't believe what a lovely place the Victoria was to stay at, the owners have done a fantastic job of refurnishing the old pub and the service we received was second to none from having our bag carried up to our room to... Spent one nite recently and found the hotel to be very nice. Not spectacular but certainly a very pleasant experience. We had one of their highend rooms on the third floor and it was very roomy with all the amenities that one would expect. The hotel is a classic old building and of course the rooms and common areas reflect... More
