This is a nice clean backpackers in a great location, but it is really the great reception team that makes it rise above. Very helpful and pleasant! Great stay, we suggest this backpackers to everyone we meet.

The same sheets were on the same bed after I returned to the hostel 10 days later, as told by the very specific stains. Stayed for two nights in 'The Love Shack' in December. While it was nothing spectacular it was just what the doctor ordered. The room was very reasonable compared to other places in the town - it was clean, had a wee fridge, kettle, good shower and tv. The staff were really friendly and there was a spot at the back... The Southern Laughter well located in the heart of Queenstown. It's one of the better backpacker in Queenstown but its actually nothing special. The rooms are a sometimes smelly, not very clean and a bit old and trashy. But! It's fine for a couple of days. My first choice in Queenstown!

This hostel got an immediate thumbs up for booking the honeymooners into the "Love Shack", room 27! Great location, nice surprise... we had a mini fridge, coffee/tea kettle in our double en suite room. We stayed three nights. Very friendly welcome at check-in. We stayed in one of the nicer private rooms with a queen bed. The bed was very comfy, and shared bathroom and shower were kept really clean. The kitchens are huge and well looked after, which is really nice for a hostel that size. Internet was on special while we were there ($3 for 24 hours) but is never free.... More

The staff are really helpful and nice, and the location is pretty good - although in Queenstown, it feels like anywhere is going to be decent since it's such a tiny city center!
