I stayed here for three nights, and it was as I expected. It was clean, efficient, and the staff can help you out with mapping out any activities that you may want to take part of in Te Anau. The only reason I gave it four stars is the noise. The walls were very thin and if you have the... More

I stayed 1 night in a single room, but with the thin walls it was almost as if I was in the other room anyway. You could hear absolutely everything. My room was also dirty. The carpet had many stains but the bed was comfy. The communal shower area was filthy too, with used towels all over the place and... More

I have been to this hostel at least once a year as it is very convenient when I stay in Te Anau, supermarkets are walking distance, town centre is not far away, cleaness and easy YHA standard online booking system. However this time I learned this hostel needs more insulation against noise. I stayed in a double that is located... More

Stayed in a twin room with ceiling heating. It was not exceptionally warm but good enough the (temperature was around 12 degrees, so don't know how it would fare in the face of winter). Clean bedding, toilet and shower facilities very clean with 24hours hot water. Kitchen gets cleaned every morning - so kitchen was clean with ample working &... More

We stay in a private room for 2 nights, room was tight and no TV, but it was also clean and secure. The hostel has tennis courts, volleyball and barbecue facilites for guest use. I actually really enjoyed my stay here as without a TV in the room I found we socialized more with the other guests and I enjoyed... More

I stayed here with my travelling companion for two nights - one preceding a four day hike around the Kepler Track, and the other upon our return. The first occasion we shared a stand-alone house with its own kitchen, living area, bathroom, and two guest bedrooms. Whilst dated in decor, particularly the bathroom, for a youth hostel this was an... More

Cracking hostel. Very cosy especially when the fire was lit and you can sit on comfy sofas enjoying a nice bottle of red. Rooms were clean but a little cold (ceiling heater in the room). Bathrooms were exceptionally clean and there were plenty of showers. Kitchen well stocked although gas hobs very tempermental. Staff friendly and knowledgeable about local walks... More

Although YHA hostels may appear at first to be a bit clinical and insitutional, at least you can guarantee some standards. The single rooms are nice and clean, and the showers are well looked after. The kitchen is large and clean as well. There's outdoor seating when the weather is nice and they allow you to store your luggage after... More

Te Anau isn't the most rocking of towns but this hostel tries it's best and provides a nice respite to break up the journey back from Milford Sound. Highly recommend the place with the yellow door just down the road for something to eat, I wish I could remember the name! Hostel is slick to the point of almost clinical,... More
