We stayed here in April. It was brilliant, and I echo the other comments and reviews. The guest lounge was comfortable and the complimentary cake, tea/coffee and wine a real treat. Having breakfast in the converted chapel was also special. Great place to stay. George was also one of the best hosts and one of the nicest people we met... More

Absolutely perfect stay. Beautiful and interesting accommodation. Perfectly clean. The host, George, went out of his way to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. He was very knowledgeable about local restaurants and attractions. There were fresh muffins, tea, wine, beer and he even laid on breakfast before sun-rise for our early departure. Ideally situated between milford sound... More

I really wanted to stay at the Te Anau Lodge so when all I could book for the dates I wanted was the smallest room, I did. When we arrived another guest had a late cancellation so our host upgraded us to a larger room. What a treat!. We had a large corner room with great views of the lake... More

This lodge is well located in Teanu. It is a converted and moved convent which must have been very rich. There are wonderful wood panelled rooms including an upstairs lounge with old fashioned but very comfortable furniture. Here there was a fridge with permanent free soft drinks and a full wine decanter on top all of which were free. Afternoon... More

We had a two night stay here in March and were not disappointed. Other reviewers have mentioned many of the excellent features which make a stay here very pleasant indeed - the beautiful, unusual interior (its not too often you get the opportunity to stay in an old convent which has been moved, lock, stock and barrel several hundred kilometres);... We stayed at the lovely Te Anau Lodge for 6 nights and were so glad we did as it turned out to be the best place we stayed at during our 7 week trip. It is an old convent - which is characterful but so well maintained it does not feel 'old'. It is set in beautiful gardens with a... More

We stayed at Te Anau Lodge for 3 nights as we explored Doubtful Sound etc. Fantastic place to stay, very hospitable right from the start, and nothing was too much trouble for George who looked after us very well. Great outdoor chess games, great breakfasts and a lovely acoustic guitar to play with! A must to stay in if you're... More

Te Anau Lodge was one of our favorite B&B's in our month long journey throughout NZ. This was partially due to the great mix of guests. George provides a wonderful gathering room with beer, wine, coffee, tea and cakes to encourage guests to mingle. Each evening we went there before and after dinner to have a glass of wine -... More

We stayed for 3 nights in George's beautiful homestay/hotel. Great to get back at the end of day and drop into the lounge for a glass of wine, a cup of tea/coffee and superb cakes. Then get up for a great breakfast, followed by George's homemade lemon muffins - lemon curd still hot - with your coffee if you still... More

This lodge has a beautiful setting and plenty of character. It is very well-maintained, spotlessly clean and George, the manager, is very helpful. This was ,however, by far the most expensive B&B that we stayed in, partly because we stayed in the Cathedral Room, which was the only room still available for three nights when we booked. This room is... More
