I would like to thank all the staff, at the Mario's Palace Hotel. My friends and I had a fantastic stay at the hotel for 3 nights. We found all the Staff friendly, helpful, attentative and professional. The meals in the restaurant are great. The accommodation and amenities are clean and very serviceable, (I stayed in an ensuite room). The... More

We stayed in the Palace Hotel Broken Hill for two nights in the midst of a remarkable drive from Adelaide to Sydney. We had a large double room at the front of the hotel on the big balcony for AUD 120 per night. As other reviews have suggested, if you want luxury or a conventional place, stay somewhere else. The... So you're thinking about driving or taking the train all the way to Broken Hill, and now you're wondering about accommodation. Stop looking, give the guys at the Palace a call, and book a room! This place is as iconic as seeing the Opera House in Sydney. Even if you do decide to stay elsewhere, at least plan on having... More

The Palace Hotel is all about the atmosphere of a bygone era. Go for the full experience of the shared bathroom and a balcony room to breathe the air of the halcyon days of mining in Broken Hill, birthplace of BHP. The Palace was also the set for several scenes from "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" and oozes that camp... More

I just wish I had seen photo's of the room before I paid out any money, I did ring to ask if there was a toaster in the room, no wonder they said no there was not enough room to even change your mind. We had trouble booking in as they were all in the bar/restaurant working & after an... More

We stayed in August, 2012, and the new owners are working hard to make your stay a great experience. The rooms are on the small side, but clean and tidy. The balcony rooms are great, but can be noisey, especially when the local shift workers staying at the hotel finish work and "wind down" on the balcony outside your room.... More

Two points to make clear for starters: it's now called The Palace Hotel Broken Hill and I'm reviewing the food not the accommodation. And, as with other reviewers, the decor demands a comment! So, the food? It's pub grub, but very good grub. There's the obligatory burger and chips, steak and some imaginative seafood plus this: my choice - half... More

This is an old pub that would really only appeal to people with a retro fetish. Anyone after a decent place to stay should look elsewhere. It's pretty much worn out in terms of the decor and the service, but that is kind of all I expected. The veranda is a nice place to hang about though. Broken Hill has... More

After a long work trip and a thousand boring but 'clean' motels, some switched-on soul steered me to the Palace. Hurray! What an incredible night! I wanna live there! I'm just dumbfounded by those reviews up the top - you people just don't get it do you? If you want a safe, pristine little night with a polished drainhole, go... More
