I had never been to Bendigo before. Both my husband and I love heritage and federation architecture. We stumbled upon this place and were upgraded to the 'Dame Nellie Melba Suite' with a lovely story behind the name and I was in awe. A spa bath, a free drink each, free continental breakfast and such a welcoming feeling. I loved... More

The Shamrock is a local institution, it's one of those places that you always want to go to! The building is beautiful and as a heritage building and hotel it has been in operation for many years. Unfortunately, I have to say I'm not sure why. We did not stay in the hotel but did eat at the restaurant (I... More

Well situated, beautiful façade and the staff are lovely, and the meals were fine, but The Shamrock certainly needs a bit of a spruce up that's for sure. The bed was comfortable, and overall the room clean, though the shower could have done with a bit more sparkle-high pressure cleaning, would help. We have stayed here before admittedly it was... On arrival at Bendigo by regional train from Melbourne, I recieved a courtesy phone call from Hotel Shamrock reception to assist me with walking directions to the hotel. We were provided with a room upgrade at no additional cost, and were very happy with free wifi access provided in our room. The Shamrock is located centrally to main CBD tourist... More

We booked on booking com and ended up with the Alexander Room on the second floor for $140 (inc continental brekky) on a Sunday night. Very nice, large, clean room with a well stocked and reasonably priced mini bar, toiletries supplied, nice modern bathroom, the receptionist was helpful re parking in the council carport. James at the bar was great,... More

I had visited Bendigo a number of times but had never quite managed to visit the 'Shamrock' but last Easter, it was on top of my bucket list..and no disappointments...what a treat. The meals were sensational, the ambience so warm and welcoming and fun..I just loved the upstairs sitting room to rest my weary legs after walking and exploring Bendigo,... More

The decor and ambience of the dining room would have to be one of the finest in Australia. Although we chose to dine on the verandah outside the walk through the main room set the scene for a memorable evening. Our party of 5 (3 vegos) had a great time enjoying the 3 course menu including a wine for $55... More

Driving thru Bendigo we saw this amazing building - The Hotel Shamrock, had lunch in the restaurant and the food was excellent . Fresh local produce excellent prices and a good wine menu, the building is listed with the national trust and they've done a great job of keeping it in period. Plenty of great historical pictures showing the gold... More

We've been to the Shamrock before and have enjoyed the meals and pub ambience. This time, I ordered fish and it was very good. Fresh, succulent, and accompanied by perfectly cooked chips and OK salad. Unfortunately my husband's burger was quite the opposite - a cheap and almost inedible bun, and pressed lamb which was devoid of flavour. Service was... More
