Although located on a relatively quiet, leafy side street, this place is the pits. This "hotel" is basically a former block of cheap housing commission flats/apartments. The rooms are absolutely disgusting: an obviously unpainted patch of ceiling in one corner surrounding a supposed fire alarm, cracked and messily patched plaster walls, an obvious section of wall left unpainted and screws... On arrival we were met with a $50 key deposit. The worn out and dirty carpet on the stairs and the loose/wobbly hand rail on the landing were just the start. No milk for coffee, dirty room, peeling paint and plaster repairs. I will let the photo's give you an idea of the rest. More

If your after 'just a bed for the night" then Charnwood will do. Whilst it is just budget accomodation the rooms are clean, spacious and within walking distance to Fitzroy St. Room rates are good for what you get. Dont expect anything too flash but it did the job for what we wanted. Would stay again if need be. More

What an absolutely disgusting hotel. Not only were the staff rude, but the room was filthy. I would have at least expected a clean room. The air con was so noisy I had to turn it off so I could hear the TV that would not tune in. Just to top it off I am pretty sure the noisy people... More

Not much to say about this place.. Its not that cheap but it sure looks budget.. Its on a nice street but the wrong side of the street (right next to a highway!).. The service is pretty terrible, their internet service is extremely slow.. the inhouse menu is terribly overpriced, and the eggs were undercooked.. I guess I'd stay there... More
