YES, thats it exactly what we need after a long way. We found the Paradise. Normally we have to save this place, but other People have the same right to enjoy this Paradise. All was fresh and clean and soooo cosy and warm. See and enjoy the whole time the Pacific Ocean with this fantastic color. Go to the nice... More

What a lovely backpackers/lodge, straight across from the ocean, set on a huge piece of land. The accommodation is well set out with 8 twin/double rooms, lovely clean bathroom facilities, and a very welcoming comfortable lounge area. We were there for a 50th and what a venue, very accommodating.

"Old Bones" is a really new and solid building with a great view onto the beach. The bedrooms are fairly small but cosy and the common room is absolutely lovely with a real logfire, warm decorations and a well equipped kitchen. The only drawback is that you have to walk through the common area to get to the bathrooms (may... More

This place was immaculate. The only down side was what I believe to be the manager who was residing in one of the rooms with what I presume was his wife. They were nice, but always present so it felt a bit Big Brother-ish, always being watched. Another unusual aspect of this hostels, although not necessarily a bad thing, but... More

Just spent one night at Old Bones, but could have enjoyed quite a few more. The rooms had underfloor heating (a rare find in NZ), warm, comfortable beds and the place was impeccably clean and well cared for. There were also on site laundry facilities which were a nice treat. Would definitely recommend. Great shared living space with logburner. Also,... More

We turned up to old bones in the dark, without pre-booking. Wayne the owner was very friendly and told us they had some problems with the electrics so they were closed, however he said we were more than welcome to park our campervan in one of his spaces. When we had parked up Wayne came and told us he may... More

We only spent one night in this backpackers. Did not feel at all like budget accommodation. Great bed, great heating, great kitchen, great internet, warm living-room. The rooms were a bit small (2 of us, 3 bags...). For that price, we would have enjoyed a private ensuite bathroom. The bathrooms were a bit far away from the bedrooms.

We stayed at Old Bones for one night in our campervan. There are 4 powered and 4 unpowered sites about 50m from the lodge, with great views towards the ocean. We used the lodge kitchen, showers etc., which were almost new, of hotel standard, and spotlessly clean. Easily the best quality we experienced in the whole of our 4 weeks... More

We stayed for a night at Old Bones. It is a very cozy place, and makes your feel right at home. Old Bones is about a 10 minutes drive away from the main town of Oamaru ( I think it is almost impossible to get to Old Bones if you do not have a car), but we certainly appreciate the... More
