We stayed at Hawthorne House for 3 days and were made very welcome. The house is an interesting mix of Edwardian (the bedrooms and lounges) and modern (the gorgeous bathrooms) and Mike dispenses wine, canapes, advice and freshly cooked breakfasts with charm and warmth. The decks around the house - each room has its own and there are 2 large... More

For a relaxing and quiet getaway it would be hard to beat Hawthorne House. Beautifully renovated old house with clean and modern amenities. Home made afternoon tea, predinner drinks and nibbles and a superb breakfast were included. Mike is a great host and able to recommend and book places to eat in the evening. We actually live in Hawkes Bay... More

What a lovely place to stay. Made so welcome and the accommodation was fantastic. Mike made us feel so welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The Edwardian house is stunning and the gardens also, a great place to have an evening drink. This B&B is situated not far from some wineries and close to Hastings and Havelock... More

We had a lovely stay at Hawthorne House - it is a beautiful house that has been thoughtfully renovated, in a very pleasant rural location. Mike made us very welcome; the evening canapés and glass of wine was a nice touch, and we enjoyed a very relaxing evening in the comfortable lounge area. Mike's freshly cooked breakfast was delicious. We're... More

Outstanding service from Mike and the perfect peaceful hideaway. Living in Hastings, just married and not wishing to travel far, yet needing time away from our home we stayed in the perfect location. We would highly recommend others to spend a night at Hawthorne House like we did. We enjoyed travelling only 5kms to our destination and being able to... More

Awesome hosts. Mike was Very helpful, informative and went the extra mile via email pre-arrival. On arrival we were greeted with a very welcoming, friendly tour by Mike and again informative of surrounding activites and all features regarding Hawthorne house history. We have experienced a lot of B&B's overseas and would rate the hospitality, food, room and location as the... More
