Appears to be the best of all the motels we saw in Queenstown, very basic low end rooms, but if all you want is a bed to sleep in it is ok Definitely need the electric blankets as only heating is an oil filled heater. Attached restaurant meals were good but at the top of the price range for this... More

Many thanks for your review ! The rooms are very warm and comfortable. The heater is a delonghi fan forced unit that was rated #2 in choice magazine last year. It is powerful, fan forced with thermostat, so it comes up to heat quickly, then maintains it for you without the heat becoming oppresive...and yes there are elctric blankets as... More

Stayed there for a night and was happy with the service provided by staff. You can imagine how friendly and helpful people are when you go in country areas. Town itself is in beautiful location in the middle of mountains. Reasonable price and nice service. Staff at check in was helpful. Loved the town and stay in the hotel. Wouldn't... More

Arrived on a Sunday around 2pm, as I had been warned about Tasmania no one works on a Sunday. Only had a brief phone conversation with Motel reception and told key was on door. Room was comfortable but dated, TV was half decent size, bathroom a fair bit dated but all clean and comfortable. Luckily as it was a cold... More

Thanks for your positive review Wadeal. I am sorry I wasnt able to personally greet you on arrival as I was out on an errand. Being a Sunday, with a lower occupancy, penalty rates for staff preclude the full manning of reception in my absence, as well as the restaurant on a quieter night. Penalty rates are not a Tasmanian... More

Wifi here is fast. There is a lovely view of the surrounding mountainss especially in the late afternoon sun. The room has all the usual tea & coffee making facilities, flat screen tv, ipod dock, hair dryer and small fridge. We didn't dine at the restaurant - mains were mid $30s- found a local pub that had roast lamb on... More

Hi Marilyn, many thanks for your positive review, and we agree that some of the amenity shelves in some of the bathroom are in a silly spot and these are flagged for relocation ! I thought I might also take a moment to list our main courses and prices. Our restaurant recieves a lot of comment, almost all very positive,... More

Please reconsider if you are thinking of Silver Hills in Queenstown. Good location but this motel needs serious upgrading inside. Room was airless because the tiny window in the bathroom barely opened (5cm max) and the mouldy smell was unbearable. The main door couldn't be left open because of mosquitoes in abundance. Hard bed, flat pillows, one tiny seat in... More

Firstly, thank you for your feedback, and I am genuinely sorry you havent enjoyed your stay. But firstly i do need to state that categorically our rooms are clean, well presented and DO NOT smell. Yes the windows are small for ventilation, this is usually a cold wintery destination, they are not aircondioned ( like ALL motels in Queenstown are... More

We were glad we didn't listen to people who said "Queenstown is a ghost town, why would you want to stay there". The Silver Hills Motel provided us with a comfortable, very clean and small but quite adequately appointed room. The views from the front window were amazing - environmental degradation on an enormous scale but in a landscape that... More

Thanks for a wonderful stay with you last week. The motel unit was fresh ,spotless and bright with a stunning view of those amazing hills that make Queenstown so unique. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept like babies. Breakfast and meals were served on fresh white linen clothes and sitting in the wonderful dining room, basking in... More

Had a great night at Smelters with a group of friends on Ducati Owners Club "Tiger Hunt" event. The food and atmosphere was great. Many said the steaks were better than the Ball & Chain in Hobart. We'll be back.

We stayed overnight after a trip on the West Coast Wilderness Railway. It did us just fine. The owner/operator was very welcoming. The room was very warm (it was quite an unseasonably warm day and it would have had the sun on it all day), but we kept the bathroom door open overnight which let the cool air in. I... More

Stayed here for one night to break the trip from Hobart to Strahan. Very friendly and welcoming reception. Stayed in a Queen Deluxe Room (44), which had views of the mountains. Room is quite small but was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for a good night's sleep. Bonus of Free Wi-Fi, which worked very well. Had our... More
