Birdwing B&B was such a serene setting and a cozy stay. It felt so remote although it isn't far from busier towns such as Devonport, Sheffield or Deloraine. The cottage was homey and quaint and the bed was very comfortable! The bed looks out into a picturesque waterside view. It was such a pleasant surprise when we walked in. The breakfasts were delicious with many homegrown or locally sourced ingredients. The snacks were delicious and topped up if running low. They had a nice selection of teas and a pod machine for coffee. The cottage was very spacious and the heaters were very effective. The lounge area is quite large so we were able to spread out our belongings. The most memorable part of our stay was getting to know the hosts, Annie & Fritz. They were both so helpful, warm, genuine, compassionate and hospitable. We loved our chats and feel grateful for getting to know them. This was such a lovely retreat and we will definitely be recommending this to our friends and family planning a Tasmania trip in the area.…

We have stayed in many excellent B&B’s in NZ and AU over the past 15 years, but Fritz and Annie’s is at the top of the list. Such delightful hosts, we had a hard time leaving the delicious breakfast and great conversation each morning. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. A highlight was the Empire Hotel in nearby Deloraine and a platypus walk along the river given by the knowledgeable hotel owner.

From the first moment you’re greeted by Annie and Fritz upon arrival, you’re made to feel absolutely welcome by these two most wonderful, modest, humble, well-travelled and well-read hosts you’ll ever meet (and their little dogs). The house is located in Weegena, about 15-20 min drive from Deloraine. The room is at one end of the house with its own private entrance and a beautiful garden outside the window. It’s very comfortable, clean, quaint, quiet and serene which makes you feel so relaxed. Our hosts had provided cheese and crackers, tea and cake in the room upon our arrival. Oh and the breakfast spread; you won’t get such a great breakfast in any B&B anywhere else!! Musli, fresh berries and fruit, coffee, tea, freshly squeezed OJ, and eggs on toast with accompaniments... served in the hosts’ own kitchen/dining room with view of the garden. We had such a wonderful time staying here for 2 nights and we will definitely come back again when the opportunity presents itself. Highly recommend it.…

My wife and I stayed at this amazing B&B just a couple of weeks ago. If you like peace and quiet with only the sounds of nature then this is for you.We can only say a big thankyou to Fritz and Annie for such a great 3 night stay on their beautiful country property. They are the most lovely people and always happy to do anything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and you certainly never leave their breakfast table hungry. I have to say also that the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in at any B&B or hotel. We give this accommodation our highest recommendation and hopefully we will be back to stay again

My other half and I stayed one night with Annie and Fritz in early April. Our accommodation was first class (Five Star really) and Annie and Fritz then topped it off with a lovely home cooked breakfast the following morning. Fritz even went and picked us some fresh home grown berries! Annie is a great cook and they have both lived incredibly interesting lives. It was lovely to spend some time with them. If we are ever back in Tassie then I am sure we will be booking in again. Highly recommended.

What a great bed and breakfast this is we stayed two nights on 6 & 7 September. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by Annie and Fritz and their two lovely dogs Steiner and Bill. The room is very clean and spacious with a lovely bathroom, and very private with its separate entrance and very quiet. The grounds and gardens are beautiful with daffodils in bloom and other lovely flowers. Complimentary cheese and Annie's home made delicious shortbread biscuits were provided. The breakfasts were delicious and very generous and we enjoyed our chats with Annie and Fritz every morning. A very relaxing and peaceful stay would certainly stay here again. Annie and Fritz are a lovely couple and great hosts.

We spent a wonderful 2 nights here. The property is about 20 minutes out of Deloraine - through some beautiful countryside - just down the road there was a field of daffodils. The bed was very comfortable and and the accommodation was perfect. They even left a little cheese platter each evening. The breakfasts were a delight with many homemade items - muffins and spreads. Fritz and Annie treated us to a different breakfast each time. we enjoyed talking to them and sharing stories. This was definitely a highlight for us.

Quaint because of its location in the Bush. But a lovely airy room and a beautiful garden next to it made our stay pleasant and comfortable. The room was well stocked with cheese and fruits and the breakfast was a cooked break fast in the dining room of the owners which was nice. Deloraine is not far and has good restaurants Annie and Fritz saw to all our comforts and were great hosts

Fritz and Annie are wonderful hosts. The food was beautiful. Our first experience of a B&B, if all B&B's are like this we will certainly look at staying at more. Well worth visiting, we will be planning another visit.
