Very basic accommodation, looks and feels like it needed maintenance 10 years ago (but didn't receive any). We only slept here for a night and had dinner in town, so I cannot comment on the shared facilities like the kitchen and living room. Because of its low price, its ok. Good location to stay here for the night so you... More

I stayed at the Surfside Backpackers for 2 nights whilst travelling the Great Ocean Road. The 2 best things about this hostel is its location with a fantastic view and Robyn, the lady that runs the backpackers. To wake up each morning and look out the window was a joy! Robyn was a fantastic guest, very knowledgeable about the area... More

Straightforward hostel with a good amount of communal space, but it's a bit worn in places and could use a good dose of freshening up. However the lady that runs it is very friendly and helpful and assisted us a lot with planning the next stage of our journey along the Great Ocean Road. Given the price of accommodation generally... I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights whilst travelling on the Great Ocean Road in the beginning of January. It was very busy and pretty much fully booked, as with every other place at that time of the year. The lady who runs the place is lovely, very friendly and helpful. However this place could do with a... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at this place for two nights. The lady who solely runs the place was extremely accommodating and friendly (she even lent us bath towels for free) However, the place has seen better times, but for the price and the fact that it is the only hostel / backpackers in town, I was happy to stay... This is the place to stay travelling the great ocean road. Really cosy place with a great view of the ocean. We stayed here during the australian winter, but Robin knows how to keep you warm; electricity blankets and we slept like roses. The place is a little old fashioned, but that is just the charm!

Really truly mean the title above. The most relaxed friendly atmosphere I've found yet on my travels in Australia. The lovely lady owner Robin keeps this place and it's staff at just the right temperature. With a tempting hammock on the porch, clean and comfortable sleeping, washing and cooking facilities and a nice crowd. We were lucky enough to stay... More

I really liked this backpackers. It's quaint with small town seaside charm. It's definitely not slick and polished but you don't need that here. Stroll back from the beach, lounge around on the chairs and hammock, have a few drinks, cook dinner and watch the sun go down with any others you meet in this relaxed friendly place. The owner... We loved staying here. It was refreshingly chilled out and had a lovely vibe. The lady who runs the place is lovely and helpful and from what I can tell seems to do nearly everything there herself. She gave us awesome tips on where to see the koalas and the best stop offs. The rooms are basic but spotless, the... More
